Sorry Geoff,
Not sure why yours recalculated all albums. I will check as there may
be a foobar2000 setting that controls this behaviour (but will only be
able to check the weekend as I'm out on business for this week). I'm
100% certain mine only calculates for tracks that don't have RG values

Indeed all tracks had their gain values recalculated. However I was

Phil,
Excellent! Thanks for that bit of info - will save me plenty of time in

Thanks for that,
see this old thread where I posted instructions on converting soundcheck

Took a while (5 hours) for foobar to scan my collection and generate the
Album and track gain values. (Only 3200 tracks, though I only have an
old Pentium 4 processor!)
However, inital testing suggests that it has done a good job. I do get

You want to remove volume adjustment in itunes. This is more of a
manual feature.
You need soundcheck (itunes way of doing what you want). Soundcheck
adds a tag to each itunes song letting itunes know how to adjust the
volume of the song to make it sound at an average volume. This allows

I have soundcheck enabled in iTunes which is applied after ripping

updates the iTunes soundcheck tag using the replaygain routines.
Ivolume also has the ability to do album based adjustments like you

If foobar2000 generates both album gain and track gain values, what

I've downloaded foobar2000. Not obvious to me how I should get it to
generate the Album Gain / Track Gain values. Do I need one of the many
