I am trying to activate master-users as usual but seems in this case I am
doing something wrong and I can't have it working.
It is a Rocky Linux 9.x (in Proxmox CT), installed with virtualmin and
using system users:

# 2.3.16 (7e2e900c1a): /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf

Hi there!
I can't get ACL working for master users. Login as master user works fine

auth_master_user_separator "*", tested e.g. via Python's imaplib:

I'm on Dovecot 2.0.9 and I'mfacing issues connecting via POP3 with master

I'm using the ACL plugin, so I set up a postlogin script that sets the

Thanks for the info. I have the following implemented and working.

It would look as though the changes have now negatively affected a "normal"
user from logging in.
telnet host 143
a login username password
a NO [AUTHENTICATIONFAILED] Authentication failed.
telnet host 143

Awesome, thanks for the advice. Using the following now works...
passdb {
driver = static
args = proxy=y password=doesnotmatter
}
Cheers.

Hello,
I have Director setup to proxy requests to backend servers. This works fine
when using "standard" username/passwords.
I am not try to enable the use of the Dovecot Master user through Director

b.) request hits

Greetings,
My company is currently using dovecot with ldap, I am in the process of
migrating this over to Exchange. However, to make the process a lot
smoother I need to make use of the master user function of dovecot to
enable access to other users mailboxes without needing their password.
I have an ldap configuration but i have done the same as you.
In dovecot.conf:
auth_master_user_separator=*
passdb passwd-file {
args = /usr/local/etc/passwd.masterusers
master= yes
}
I have used this to generate passwd.masterusers file:
htpasswd -b -c -s
