Hi M
That fixed it Shawn, thanks for the quick feedback. I like the way the white
area turns blue after a while.

That was it. Classic is the only theme that allows typing in the entire
search box. The other themes restrict typing to a small field to the right
of the magnifying glass as shown in the screen dump I sent. Does the patch
below fix the theme bug?

I just noticed that if I take DSQD off the
task bar so it floats in its own window it still has the gray area below the search
field.

I changed line 964 to
if (document.body.clientHeight > 2048
&& document.body.clientWidth > 2048)
It didn’t help.
Also widening the task bar or making the
search box smaller has no affect either.

It was 256 and 256
No dice, didn't remove the gray area.

I had to reinstall DSQD. I made the change in the registry to get rid of the
XP active X warning. But right now my entire search box is gray and I can't
enter anything into it. It shows the text:
Dave's Quick Search Deskbar
Designed to be placed on the windows task bar

Google maps are now in beta.

I like your solution putting the tinyURL icon on the browser window, that
keeps the steps to a minimum.

Maybe this is something I should know how to do myself, but is there way to
enter a long URL in DSQD and have it make a short URL from tinyURL.com? I
mean without having to go to there web site?

cus - however, I just
noticed a bug that F1 not only brings up the DQSD menu, but also the Windows
help if the bar is vertically docked. We'll look into that.

However when I move the task bar to the horizontal mode the little pop up
menu appears, so me thinks this is a bug.

My localprefs.js is empty. I believe the calendar is fine, its that I am not
seeing the little right triangle that you click to show the pop up menu, so
I can access all of the features.

Is it a bug or is it me. When I have DQSD in a vertical task bar on my
monitor, the search menu doesn't work. I am using XP SP2.

I don't mind the reg-hack so much, it's the loss of the popup menu that
depresses me. I really learned a great deal about the web from that
collection of sites, and I loved the way I could customize it when I found a
site I liked to enter info into it.
I'm sure there is a way to get it to work wi
