Based on what I can get out on 15, I'm suspecting that I'll need to re-do
the 10 alignment. The previous owner said he rarely used it on 10 and
mostly QRP. The fact I can get 100W+ on 15 suggests I just need to realign
based on what you've said here.
I'm loving a feature that not too many
Steve mentioned that the p[revious owner used his 4-line as a QRP rig. I
thought that I was the only one who had done that! It seems like a lot of
radio idling, but it was the only one that I had when the QRP-bug bit!
All I did was throatle back on the gain while keying until the watt meter

OK, cool!. Yeah, it didn't take long for Drake to put out a field change to add the DELAY pot to
the back panel for the T-4X. The TR-3 and TR-4's all had a fixed delay, a selected resistor in the
VOX section. You could vary the delay somewhat by increasing or decreasing the VOX GAIN

Yeah, lots more filament power than anything else! :-)
If you _really_ want to go QRPp, try switching to USB on CW. I once called a friend in Ireland on
20M cw that I talked to all the time, and he was 30 over S9, so I just dumped in my call when he

I am restoring a Drake TR-7A and the 13.695 MHz VCXO crystal has drifted way

Ron,
It doesn't matter. When you call International Crystal, you just tell them
what crystal from what radio and they have all the specs.

I have a Drake R-4C with several of the Sherwood mods. It came to me
in non-working condition. The radio looks pretty clean, BTW, but the
PD-4 board was removed from the receiver, for some reason. The
installation of the mods looks a little rough, i.e. probably not done
by Sherwood. I could dope

Hi, everyone -
Everyone on HF eventually needs a good high-power tuner (unless you're
operating QRP, but even then, the high-power tuners have the least loss).
What I have right now that may interest you is a Murch UT-2000B. This is a
roller-inductor transmatch that does 160-10m. The caps
