I do a lot of e-bay transactions, both as buyer and seller. So far,
very few issues and nothing unresolved. E-bay provides a source of gear
that is hard
Hey
guys,
A few weeks ago I
recorded my R4A on CW and SSB. I've now done the same thing with my
2B. Give 'em a listen and let me know what you think

Hi
guys,
Well,
vacation. I got a bit of time on the rig last night. I've finished
my cap replacement activity and moved on to addressing the attenuation in the .4
position. I followed the manual and did an alignment of the PBT.
Alignment was easy and went as described in the book. The

Hey
guys,
I'm in the middle of
some fixes on my 13 tube R4A. I'm 1/2 way through replacing the PS filter
caps and have other caps to put into the rig. While I'm doing the work,
I'm wondering how the results will be.
Here's the
Question: Does an R4A/B receiver sound better than or worse

Ok, enough hype, on

Last night I
finished my cap replacement in the R4A. I replaced the PS filter cap
module and, while I was at it, the handful of paper caps that "should
Hey

Other than e-bay,

Thanks guys for the advise regarding aligning the PBT in my R4A. I
haven't done it yet but it sounds like it is the first thing to try and

I spent some more
time with the R-4A last night. I carefullysprayed
DeOxitintothe AF RF gain pots, and the wafer switches; esp the
IF bandwidth switch. The rig does work better now. Things are better
now.
Unfortunately, the
IF bandwidth issue is still there. A signal that is S9 in the 3

Hopefully, for your sake, the passband tuning unit is not in need of
alignment. I doubt very much that bad caps are to blame
Hey
folks,
Well I went and did
it. In looking for an R4B, I ended up buying a 2B and an R4A. I
couldn't help it, they were calling to me. I still may end up with an R4B
if I can find one in good shape for the $ I'm willing to spend. In the
mean time I have a couple rigs to play with.

I'm contemplating buying a Drake receiver and figured it would be wise
