[drakelist] Audio static
K4GM-George [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- I have a nice R4-C with the following Sherwood mods: AMP-4, FC-4, MIX-4, PD-4, PS-4 and the three filter switch kit. The radio works well especially with the cw roofing filter but I still notice an annoying audio crackle from time to time. I thought the MIX-4 mod was supposed to eliminate this problem. I did not install any of these mods and have not verified proper install yet. Before I begin to trace all connections on the mods, does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be causing me to continue to have the audio crackle ? Dino Papas [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- George - although there can be many reasons for that crackle one that has plagued me from time to time turns out to be an easy fixsometimes the phono plug on the back of the receiver gets a little corrosion in the female part and/or on the male pin. Usually a little dab of DeOxit clears it up nicely. Your mileage may vary but worth giving it a try. Those ceramic (?) phono plugs on the back of the R-4c seem to break down after a while. I changed out the whole strip of them once many years ago to cure some intermittent problems I was having. [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Typically the frying egg sound is due to the 6EJ7 third mixer. Replacing the tube cures the problem for a limited period of time. -- Submissions:drakelist@www.zerobeat.net Unsubscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: www.zerobeat.net - sponsored by www.tlchost.net --

DW Harms [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Hi George, I had that too and in my case it appeared to be V4, the tube 6EJ7 located near the transformer. Took me a while to find out I put in a Philips EF184 instead and that cured it. My R4C has the same mods that you describe and it is one of my best receivers, especially during a busy 40m CW contest. Have lots of fun with it! 73, Dick PA2DW -Oorspronkelijk bericht- Van: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Namens K4GM-George Verzonden: maandag 5 september 2005 21:58 Aan: drakelist@www.zerobeat.net Onderwerp: [drakelist] Audio static K4GM-George [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- I have a nice R4-C with the following Sherwood mods: AMP-4, FC-4, MIX-4, PD-4, PS-4 and the three filter switch kit.
