Hi Stuart, Actually I've been using Sword PHP library and it seems great. The only thing I've noticed, is that if I run, say 10 deposits in a row, my servlet container hangs and Java gives me the following memory error. Now this makes me wonder if there's some leakage somewhere in DSpace SWORD

Hi Joseph, There was a memory leak in the Browse function in version 1.3.2 which may have persisted into 1.4 but has disappeared with the rewritten Browse function in 1.5. It does cause a gradual degradation in responses for us. In order to get round it we have to restart Tomcat each night to

[Dspace-tech] Upgrading 1.3.2 to 1.5

Hi Karen, I just finished a similar upgrade. Look in the dspace/etc folder and you will find the sql needed for the upgrade. Essentially, you run several scripts upgrading your database incrementally from 1.3 to 1.4 and then another to 1.5. You can find more information in

A little more generally: you need to read the upgrade instructions for every version between the one you start with and the one you are going to, and carry out all of the unique upgrade instructions along that path. That is, some things (like .war files) are replaced each time, and you can just

Hi Mika, I've just run some tests depositing 100 items in a row from the PHP library, and it seemed to work fine. Indeed, with an earlier version of DSpace we deposited 1/3rd million items into DSpace, with 4 concurrent threads (using a custom Java SWORD load test tool) and it worked fine.
