Hi Jacob,
While I've never run benchmarks specific to DSpace, these days, as
you've noted, there should be no significant difference in performance
between OpenJDK 7 and Oracle JDK 7. In fact, from my understanding,
these days there's no significant differences between the two. See this

Hi all,
Has anyone run any benchmarks for OpenJDK JVM vs. Oracle JVM for a recent
version of DSpace on Java 7?
Everything I've read online suggests that Oracle *for Java 7* is not
significantly faster than OpenJDK.
I'm inclined to prefer OpenJDK because:

Hi,
Just a clarification. Our DSpace DB is currently running On Oracle 11202.

Has anyone had any issues with this? Is it supported?

Quick update: Oracle has released a Critical Patch Update for Java 6 (JDK
6u41) and 7 (JDK 7u15). Also, 6u41 is the last public Java 6 release and
Oracle no longer recommends using it in production, so if you're using it,
you should upgrade to Java 7.
