Adrian, Ed, thanks for your replies.
Will you be a bit more specific about the gateway list server? Is it one of
the elements of the icom G2 system or is it a DPLUS thing?
WRT DPLUS + G1, I wish I had a repeater/gateway that I could play with. I am
only a curious end user.

If it would do, would it link between JA and non-JA repeaters across

They also do make use of the zone feature in Japan and in some cases
have the very expensive 10Gbps links in place.
There are 3 zones today. I don't see any reason why people want this.
Unlikely to see more.

Hi
The 880's a fine rig. There's one feature that Icom added trying to
accommodate U.S. style linking and they kinda goofed it up, there's a
PDF file at dealerships that explains it
Could you or anyone elaborate it? Or just a pointer would be fine.

say YMMV?) like how many local repeaters you usually use, how many
destinations you want to have, if you only use gateway routing or you
use callsign routing also.

gateway routing. The DR mode adds leading '/' to the repeater
and sets it to UR, then sets RPT1 and RPT2 all for you.

In Japan, we use four-letter tags like: EB43, FJ12, IKDD. The first two
letters are abbreviation of location like EB=Ebina, FJ=Fujisawa,
IK=Ikoma, and the rest of two indicate modules.
You can find these in the Japanese repeater list

or does it matter?
It doesn't matter. I leave it at UR because I change UR more often than
repeaters.
You can always see your setting (UR, RPT1, RPT2, MY and freq.) by long
pressing the CS button.
Good luck and 73,

you to set RPT2.
When you have selected CQCQCQ in the GRP UR, and long press CS, turn the
knob until it shows RPT2. You will see your gateway set to the RPT2.
If you selected CQCQCQ in the GRP CQ, it does not show RPT2.

Hi
Thanks for the QSO.
Good idea. It was very interesting to hear you from several different
repeaters at the same time! Also the One-Touch worked well, so it was
quite easy for me to respond your CQ.

Please note that none of the current D-Star radios is capable of dual
watch two DV-mode frequencies. If one is DV, another comes to FM. Dual
FM is OK.

Hi,
This is JI1BQW, Kay, here.
Mark's elaboration is highly appreciated and I hope the list helps
bridge the differences of our network. I also hope this is a short term
work around until JARL essentially solves it.
Thank you, Steve, also for publicizing the list.
