Hi Charlie, Swan Island and Swain Island are two different islands. Swan is off the coast of Honduras and now belongs to them. The prefix I'm familiar with used to be KS4. Swan Island was once the site of Radio Swan, later called Radio Americas, that was a CIA-operated station broadcasting

Here is the answer(s): Likely correct answers are 1. Swan Island is HR6 2. Swain's Island, N8S, prefix is KH8S, IOTA OC-200. Other answers from the reflector members are KC4, HK0, KS4, HR, and whatever ur logging program says. I love ham radio! Tnx all respondants and 73 Charles Harpole

Charles, I believe that Swan Is belongs to the US., and the correct prefix is KH8/S. Anyone have anything different? As for 73, it goes way back to the days of predominantly CW. 73 is/was an on the air exchange at the end of a CW QSO and means best regards, and it chaps my grouchy old fanny
