Just think. In the good old days of ham radio and DX we each exchanged
cards and paid our own postage. That's when a QSL card meant something.
Today it is a business. If you send $5.00 or $10.00 that will almost
guarantee you a card whether you work the station or not. If you do not

Hi J,
Well, as an active QSL manager, and an avid DXer, I must say I am personally
offended by your in fact statement. I think it was Winston Churchill or
maybe Roosevelt that said All generalities are false, including this one.
While it may possibly be true in some rare instances, I think your

I was going to write a long detailed analysis as a rebuttal, but it occurs
to me that this can be summed up very simply:
Those who can afford to donate and choose to donate, do so.
But those who can't afford it and/or choose not to should not feel OBLIGATED
to do so.

Tony,
Don't be offended. I'm sure we have all had many positive experiences and
maybe a few negatives in getting qsl cards.
I think that W7KSG was trying to make the point that in the old days, the
station at the other end of the qso wanted your card as much as you wanted
their's. I may be
Actually, it was a Canadian that made that statement following 9/11. If you don't
understand, who do you think provided lend-lease to you in World War II???
