Rick, did you transfer your preferences from the old version to the new one?

If not, this may be due to the addition of the 60 meter band. Perhaps a
band counter is off-by-one.

Mine comes up 20 meters as expected.

[Dx4win] Deleting Error messages in QSO notes?

2004-05-12 Thread John DeRuiter
I am pretty pleased with the 6.03 update. I was running 5.03 previously. I
encountered a number of differences in the DXCC counts in the summary, but
all are now resolved. None were due to errors in DX4WIN 5.03 or 6.03. Most
were errors that I made when entering QSOs in the previous version. The new
country database caught the errors.

I do have one question, however. Can the error messages that are inserted
into the QSO Note field be deleted other than one at a time? I have a lot of
old error messages from various imports and upgrades as well as some new
ones from this upgrade. I would like to delete all the error messages at
once without having to do them individually. Anyone know if this is possible
and if so, how to do it.

[Dx4win] 6.03 upgrade

2004-05-12 Thread Pete Smith
To my great pleasure, the 6.03 upgrade, based on this morning's
installation file, went almost flawlessly.

Without merging my old country file, my CnfTotal for DXCC agreed exactly
with the same number from 6.02. I'm still a little confused by the meaning
of the UplCnf field in the QSO window, which is not defined in the help
file I downloaded with the program.

There are some small deviations -- for example, my DXCC summary shows one
more country on 80m in the QSL mailed category than before. No instances
of the word error are found in my notes. What's the best way to chase
down individual discrepancies like this?

[Dx4win] QSO Notes

Mel,

ADIF knows nothing about awards; so that information will be lost.
When you export the log using the dx4win filter, you get two files:
xxx.dxn and xxx.dxq. The dxq files contains the qsos and the notes
for the qso. A text editor can get rid of the notes quickly.

I will see if I can add such a feature to the multiple qso operations.

Hi John,

There is a way around it, another user of this forum recommended for me as I
have over 200,000 records and did not fancy the prospect of removing each of
the errors individually.

You can output the file into excel and this way it is easier to clear the
field - easy if there is no other information you wish to keep in that field
(as Guy has previously mentioned).

It would of course be nice to have a few lines of extra code just to compare
the first word in this field ie if it sees the word Error as the first
word prompt to delete the field. Maybe for the next version if there is
enough call for it ;-)

Hope this helps,

[Dx4win] Uploads and LOTW

2004-05-12 Thread David Kozinn - K2DBK
Any chance (at some point) of getting a default setting on the
Preferences-QSO page that will allow us to change the default setting for
this field (the Upload flag)? I have manually exported my entire log, and
(at least so far) I see no reason not to continue doing so, so I'd like to
have that flag default to Y, while leaving the label flag set to N.

Also, is there any way to mass change the date in all my previously-upload
QSOs (done with a manual ADIF export) so that I can track that they've been
uploaded already?

At 10:05 AM 5/12/2004, Paul van der Eijk wrote:

I tried to do the electronic confirmations similar to the paper equivalent:

Upload = Y == I want to upload this QSO; like Label = Y. You can set the
flag using the command on the label menu.

Upload Date (QSO was uploaded; set when doing the upload)
like QSL Date

Upl Conf (set when importing your log back into DX4WIN and the imported
QSO is flagged as confirmed. You have to select the option to set the
Upl Conf flag
This is like Cnfm = Y

This also explains why I put the 'Export for LOTW' on the label menu;
it is like printing your labels. Also note that this option sets the upload
date; a regular ADIF export does not do that.

[Dx4win] Deleting Error messages in QSO notes?

2004-05-12 Thread Nelson Moyer
John,

You may not want to use a cvs file from Excel as an import file. I converted
a Macintosh database file to cvs through Excel and Excel stripped the
leading zeros from UTC times. I never figured out how to set the cell number
format to accept leading zeros in Excel. I was using the HHMM format, and
DX4WIN 6.02 times with the leading zeros stripped from the import file
appeared as 00:00 or ??:??. Perhaps Excel would not strip the zeros from the
HH:MM format; I didn't try it. The only way I could produce a file that
would import properly was to export the database file as comma delineated
text with return (enter on the PC) as the end of line character, open and
convert the file in Word, and save as a text file in ASCII format. The
resulting file imported into 6.02 with leading zeros intact.

Rick,

I think I can help with part of you question, ie the filtering the internet
spots.

After you telnet in type:

set/filter k/pass (or what ever country you want to see spots from)

Or to limit spots to given states:

set/filter doc/pass k
set/filter dos/pass nc,sc,ga,fl (this is a list of states that you want to
see the spots from)

to view your filter setting, type

show/filter

These filter are retained when you log off the packet node. You will have
to set them for each packet node that you access.

2004-05-12 Thread Mike Rhodes
Rick,
Here is what I did and it sure simplifies things until an autoconnect
feature comes along...

Save a copy of your dx4win.tcp file under a different name (dx4win_all.tcp
or whatever) or in a different location. Open the dx4win.tcp file with
notepad and delete all the clusters you do not use. Hopefully you have a
single reliable node picked out and that will be the only one you keep. Save
your file. Now when you open it up there will only be one entry and all you
have to do is click ok.

The next step is to set one of the packet window f-keys to your call and
%M for carriage return and any other keys for your frequently used commands
(sh/dx/50, etc.), Makes things much much simpler!

[Dx4win] Priorities gone with new CTY file

2004-05-12 Thread Randy Farmer
I recently updated my dx4win.cty file to AD1C's latest version. I had a
little bit of fixing to do, but with very little trouble I got my DXCC
totals to be reported correctly. BUT

Using the new file, all packet spots show a priority of 8 and they are all
grayed out. This behavior persisted when I downloaded and installed version
6.03 (with my preferences imported via an .ini file). If I substitute my
old .cty file in either version, all is well and the prioritization
returns. Am I doing something wrong or missing a step in the setup? I have
updated the .cty file before with no similar problems.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks 73...

[Dx4win] Priorities gone with new CTY file

2004-05-12 Thread A. Sewell
Try going into Preferences | Packet1 and change the Prefixes/Zones for
Spotters from K, VE to W, VE.

Subject: [Dx4win] Priorities gone with new CTY file

I recently updated my dx4win.cty file to AD1C's latest version. I had a
little bit of fixing to do, but with very little trouble I got my DXCC
totals to be reported correctly. BUT

Using the new file, all packet spots show a priority of 8 and they are all
grayed out. This behavior persisted when I downloaded and installed
version
6.03 (with my preferences imported via an .ini file). If I substitute my
old .cty file in either version, all is well and the prioritization
returns. Am I doing something wrong or missing a step in the setup? I have
updated the .cty file before with no similar problems.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks 73...

 Randy, W8FN
