[Dx4win] DX4Win and FT1000MP

2004-11-24 Thread Wanda_Jak
Hello,
I am just configuring my DX4Win software to connect to the radio and TNC
modem. Could someone tell me which parameters should be used in a case of
FT1000MP?
I know the baud rate should be 4800, and the COM field is also correct.
However, the radio does not work. What about the 'address field at
'File/preferences/radio'?
Hopre for your help.

Not sure why you feel it is off-topic here, Philippe, but I'd

I completely switched to Linux last year and I still keep a Windows machine

I will try again probably with Fedora Core 3 and again Wine and maybe also
QEmu but I don't know when (FYI : I 'm trying only with Open Source
emulators, no Win4Lin, VMWare, ...)

If and when I will have positive results I will surely post on the list. I'm
still dreaming about a Dx4Win Linux version ;-)

As this is mostly off topic here, I will not post anymore about Linux, only
via private mail.

I lost all QSL manager addresses after updating to release 9 of DX4WIN country
files. I followed the procedure for exporting/importing QSL manager data and
all
QSL managers were successfully preserved but are blank for addresses. How can I
get them back so that I can print out labels for stored up unsent QSL's and
preserve known good addresses? I suspect a missing step in the Country File
update procedure is to also export/save/import QSL manager addresses.

Two separate monitors for those app's; that sounds really neat. Ok; using a
second graphics card and monitor; how would I configure this, in my case, under

I wonder if Paul has considered the possibility of designing hooks into
DX4WIN so that it can integrate with VE3NEA's DXAtlas, Ionoscope and Band
 Master (www.dxatlas.com)?

This one has been on my gee-whiz-maybe-someday wish list for a while, too

there may ...be problems with screen real estate

2nd video card costs $10, and people are GIVING 14 monitors away. I run
VE3NEA's Hamscope and DXAtlas on the 2nd screen, with DX4Win taking up all
the screen-estate on the first one. Works very well. It'd be even better if
they worked automatically with each other (prefix lookup on the DXAtlas map
using DXAtlas's superb lookup, and even rotator control...)

[Dx4win] Config 2 monitors??

2004-11-24 Thread Tony Lord
Mike,

I did this with my computer, I use windows XP, so I guess (??) it aint far
off with Win2000? It involved installing a second video card. Then after it
has been installed if you go to control panel, check under displays you will
see that windows has configured two monitors. You can then select which is
right or left hand monitor ( or top and bottom).

Its really good when used, I have all the amateur radio icons on the right
screen and all the normal (non radio) icons on the left screen. When you
open the software you can then decide which window (or windows) you want on
which screen, windows will remember their position (you have to check a box
in control panel) and each time you switch on the software, the windows are
installed on the correct monitor.

You can make it 3 monitors if you want! My new video card had two video
outputs, so combined with the one already on the computer makes 3. However
you need a lot of desk space!

Good luck, its easy to do, cheap and great results!

A, but if you take a look at Logger 32, a freeware logging program,
you'll see that it automatically looks up a callsign on the internet
through QRZ.com and places it in your logging fields - automatically - no
intervention required other than entering the callsign. Magic. Wish that
would happen in DX4WIN. No CDROM, no steps required - just enter the
callsignand it's free.

I am a newbie to DX4win. Could someone please tell me if there is an
advantage to using an external database cd rom over qrz.com on the internet

1. The CDROM data is better integrated into DX4WIN.
Using QRZ.COM takes too lookups vs one.

2. If the Internet is down, you're stuck!

3. By buying the data, you support the people who maintain it.

4. If you have the disk space, copy the CDROM data
to your hard drive, and lookups will be FAST.
You can open the F3 window and step from QSO to QSO
and the data is updated instantaneously.

[Dx4win] Post-5BDXCC submissions

2004-11-24 Thread Floyd Sense
I have hundreds of confirmed QSOs to submit to the DXCC desk, some of which
comprise a 30 meter DXCC and the rest are just for the Challenge. Never
thought about the mechanics of how to prepare the submission list with
DX4WIN, so am asking for your ideas. It appears that the best thing to do
is to manually set the group field to the same new value for all the QSOs to
be submitted, then produce a custom report based on that. Is there a better
way to handle this?
