Re: [Dx4win] Print QSL Cards

2016-03-20 Thread John Shaw
I have done this. Not sure if this is the best way but here is what I did.

I made a custom label the size of the card with nr across 1 nr down 1 Paper
size Custom then adjusted the left and top spacing to put the printing where
I wanted it. It actually worked quite well with an ink jet, BUT.

A couple of thoughts on consumer grade printers. Ink jet printing is
hopeless if it gets wet and I have had people request a replacement card
because the postie dropped the letter in a puddle or something. Laser
printers don't print very well on heavy card just not enough heat to fuse
the toner properly, yes some have a setting for heavier paper. I'll let
others decide if their laser fuses the toner good enough but I have gone
back to labels and a laser printer.

I was hoping to print directly on the back of my pre printed QSL cards...
This is my third call. I have three different cards (and styles). I can do
labels for the other other two. My current printer is a Brother HL-5250. I
also have a HP OfficeJet Pro 8610, but that has not as easy to setup (as I
can tell).

[Dx4win] PSK and Comm Ports

2016-03-20 Thread Jay Chamberlain
I have been running a USB to Serial adapter to read my FT-857D data into
DX4WIN 8.05.

Now I am trying to hook up a RigBlaster Plus to run PSK31 and key the radio.
I've had the RigBlaster for a while and haven't been able to get the
rigblaster to go into the PTT / Tx mode. I now think my Prolific USB-Serial
adapter is bad.

Which leads to my question. I know how and where to set the Comm port to
read the radio data into DX4WIN. Can I do both, read the radio data in and
also run the PSK window or do I have to set up to run PSK with the second
Radio preferences set to the different PSK Comm port?

[Dx4win] DX4WIN/CW Skimmer/SDR RX controlling "slave radio" TX frequency

2016-03-20 Thread Radivoj Kar, F6GNZ via DX4WIN
Some time ago I was kicking my head how to listen permanently to DX-ped's
frequency, while being able to select any QSX TX frequency by click on the
Skimmer, even with QSX going beyond the +12kHz Skimmer's range. And just found
a solution which I wish to share with anybody interested:

I kept SDR RX controlled by DX4WIN and Skimmer via RCP1 and RCP2 of DDUtil, but
instead of controlling 1000MP from the "slave radio" port of DDUtil, I have
installed the DXLab's Commander and W3OA's Skimmer-to-Commander. I programmed
Commander to control the FT1000MP via CAT1 port of the microHAM Router, and
connected Skimmer-to Commander to Skimmer's Telnet Localport 701 (which was
programmed in Skimmer's Telnet Tab, where also the "allow skimmer commands" was
checked).
Now, in Telnet-to-Commander window, I can select whether the click on Skimmer's
frequency sets vfoA or vfoB of the 1000MP, so I can now permanently listen
DX-ped frequency on Main RX vfoA and transmit on any QSX frequency selected on
Skimmer via vfoB of the 1000MP ! The Commander and StC can be then left hidden
on the Taskbar!
Hope this may be useful for others.
Best 73, Radi F6GNZ
