[Dx4win] DX4WIN New Version

2004-04-15 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (J. F. Samuels)
I like MMTTY and continue to use it for just the neat RTTY tuning indicator. I have carefully compared my KAM, MMTTY and MixW for receiving RTTY, and MixW definitely has the edge, with MMTTY second. MixW is appealing also since it runs CW, Packet, FSK31, AMTOR, PACTOR (receive only), MFSK, Throb,

Fw: [Dx4win] backup

2004-02-25 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (J. F. Samuels)
Per the Help file: When the File|Backup command is processed, a normal backup to the Save directory is done just as it would be automatically with the timer. The Backup directory is not normally used. You should perform your own backup of important DX4WIN files to a diskette or other external

[Dx4win] Awards tracking

2004-01-18 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (J. F. Samuels)
No! When you do a submission, for Mixed DXCC for example, the - will be changed to Subm, for Submitted. When the cards have been accepted towards the award, the Subm can be changed to Chkd. The easiest way to do this is Reports-Change Award Flags-Change Submitted to Checked. Then if a few were

[Dx4win] Orion timeouts with DX4WIN?

2004-01-07 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (J. F. Samuels)
It's a remote possibility, but Win98 suffered from a jerky mouse and miscellaneous delay problem when an HP LaserJet 1100 was attached. There was, eventually, a patch from HP to fix it. Let me know if you need a pointer. Win98 will not be supported much longer. Am happy with Win XP -- much more

[Dx4win] Contest Mode

2004-01-02 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (J. F. Samuels)
Works OK for me. Must be for same band, same mode. Using Ver 6.03. Try typing the call in - see if that works. HNY to all, and let's pray for peace in 2004! John, K2CIB - Original Message - From: Michael L. Thomas [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Friday, January

[Dx4win] Swapping Radios

2003-12-16 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (J. F. Samuels)

[Dx4win] Spot Xfer/Vanish!?

2003-12-03 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (J. F. Samuels)
This happens to me too. But, in my case, it is because my preferences are set to not display band/mode combinations which are already confirmed (even lower than gray). I'll see the spot in the spot window, but when it comes back from the PacketCluster, it disappears. Could this be the case here?

[Dx4win] Group Names

2003-09-15 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (J. F. Samuels)
Happened to me too. Here is Paul's reply: John, Group names are part of the log. A way to loose the group names is to export a log, and import into a new one. When you have a log with group names in it, proceed as follows: 1. Keep backup information!! 2. Open the log with the groups in it. 3.

[Dx4win] DX spot colors revisited

2003-09-03 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (J. F. Samuels)
As others have said, I might want to swap 2 and 3, 4 and 5. So, it must be a preference setting. Also, I might not want to see even black spots, much less gray, so would want to hide them as I do the gray ones. John, K2CIB - Original Message - From: Jim Reisert AD1C [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[Dx4win] Re: Spot Priorities

2003-04-23 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (J. F. Samuels)
Re the previous append, I never look to work priority 6 or 7s. I was able to make the priority 6s black - but would not like to see them at all. I propose a numeric limit in the preferences above which spots will not appear. Or, allow all the priorities to have their color changed to gray, if

[Dx4win] TS-870 Not Changing Modes

2003-03-12 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (J. F. Samuels)
With 6.02 the split function does not work. I modified the radio definition for TS-870+ and got the split working. Now the mode (CW, USB, etc.) does not set. Any ideas? John, K2CIB

First, thank you, Paul, for making the best logging software better still. I know, having been a programmer, how difficult it is to get it all right. I am particularly pleased with the fixes for the mailed cutoff date, and set a filter when double click in the Country window. Looking over the
