[Dx4win] 5A1A trip to DAYTON HAMVENTION
PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ THIS AND PLEASE PASS IT ON. I HOPE THAT WE CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN. Hi, my name is John, W9RPM. I am a friend of Abubaker Assid, 5A1A/DL1AL. As many of you may know, he is currently in Germany going to school. Over the years before going to Germany, he provided many of us with 5A1A in our log. He has always dreamed of going to the Dayton Hamvention. Now that he is in Germany, he is able to get a Visa to come to the United States. He has very limited financial resources currently. He is going to school and working a part time job. I, with the help of Scott, KA9FOX am trying to help him financially to be able to come to Dayton this year. I am asking for donations from individuals and clubs to help make this happen. If any of you would be able to send a donation, I would ask that you send a check or money order to me at: John Kjos-W9RPM 2723 East Burr Oak st. La Crosse Wisconsin 54601 Please make them out to me, John Kjos. If for some reason Abubaker, 5A1A is unable to make the trip, all donations will be promptly refunded. Also, I will keep everyone informed as to how things are progressing. It sure would be great if we as a Dxing and Contesting community could help make this happen. I am looking at a time frame of having everything taken care of my March 20th, to allow him to make arrangements. So I would need any donations by then. I ask you to please consider contributing to helping 5A1A make the trip. If anyone has any questions, please email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or call me at 1-608-787-6004. I was their number 2 FT2000 sold. I have tried using FT9K driver in DX4WIN 7.02 and it does follow the radio band changes and successfully read frequency into qso record. It does not follow when I click on packet spots. I am also using Writelog version 10.59D, also using FT9K driver. WL seems to work properly both in reading frequency and mode from radio as well as setting VFO A and B when the spot specifies a split frequency and only VFO A for simplex spots. I am also using MicroHam Microkeyer USB interface with their version 3.1.4 router and it is properly sensing FT2000 frequency using settings for FT9K. I hope this is useful information. 73, Ira K2RD ON4AOI wrote: John, Dx4win is supporting the FTDX9000 but it isn't working Like in All OTHER LOGBOOK or CONTESTPRG correct. OMS, PY5EG explained clearly what the problem is. Changing bands manually on the FT9K DX4WIN follows to the correct band. This works OK. Sending a grabbed spot to the radio. The radio goes to the correct frequency on the FT9K But it goes to VFO B for XMIT and not to VFO A, independently if the station is operating split or not. Cmd for VFO A = FA.. and cmd for VFO B = FB.. etc This is done by all tested programs but the problem stays For all the same. Probably this is a FIRMWARE bug in the FT9K but nobody answers this !!! Maybe this is also the reason why you can't buy the FT2000 ( = same new CAT commands like FTDX9000D). I am not having any luck. My older version 2800 worked fine. Am I missing something? Thanks- John --- I have the same problem, John, and as I understand it DX4WIN does not operate the Orion 2800 with the new control board because there was an error in the Orion documentation for those 2800s. The documentation states that the computer must issue a command of A=xx.x to get the rotator to turn to xx.x degrees and that is the way DX4WIN is programmed. However, with the new control board, the command is Axx.x (no equal sign). The old form of the command works with the older control board but not the new one. According to Steve, the DX4WIN support man, the fix is easy to program but will require a new release of DX4WIN, which will be issued at a yet undefined date. I have the new control board in my OR-2800 and have tested the new form of the command using Hyper Terminal. It works fine. Also, M2 has updated page 11 of the OR-2800 documentation to correct the mistake. Steve, if I have stated the problem and solution incorrectly, please jump in and set us straight. Pretty big pain in the butt if the first thing copied and entered is the grid. Next go round gets the call and bang, the grid is gone. There may be some time in life when it is desirable to be unable to enter the grid until after the call is entered (correctly) but I have not figured out just when that time might be.
