Re: [Dx4win] LotW Backlog continues to grow ...

2012-12-10 Thread N3SL
Not sure how current their delay announcements are, as a CQWW log
uploaded on 12/1 has yet to be processed.

But on the other hand, DXCC submissions via LoTW are super-fast. Submitted
my annual update last evening at 8:40 and had all accredited at 9:49.

So some parts are working well

Agreed - 8 days 14 hours! At the current rate of growth the
delay will be 9 days before tomorrow. Here are the latest
 numbers I have:

Upload Time Time Processed Elapsed Time
 ==**=
 2012/11/23 18:002012/11/27 00:433 06:43:34

 2012/11/29 18:382012/12/06 05:106 10:32:20
 2012/11/30 00:582012/12/06 18:246 17:26:26

 2012/12/01 12:302012/12/09 01:107 12:40:49
 2012/12/02 05:002012/12/10 19:318 14:31:29

The delay is growing out of control - between 12/1 and 112/2
there were 2.5 times as many QSOs uploaded as LotW processed
and LotW has been processing an *average* of 11,000 QSOs per
minute or about 264,000 QSOs per day based on the information
 on the home page.

If one plots a trend line, the delay is growing exponentially.
The trend indicates a file uploaded *today* is not likely to
be processed *for more than five weeks* based on the current
rate of growth in the backlog. Based on the processing time
for files uploaded at 0500z on 12/2, there were about 2.25
million unprocessed QSOs in the queue at that time - and that
was 48 hours *after* the deadline for submitting CQWW CW logs.
With the trend in growth between 11/25 and 12/2, the queue could
hold as many *10 million* unprocessed QSOs (although that is
 unlikely)!

I know the folks in Newington are saying trust us, but their
performance - and complete failure to provide *current data* -
particularly the failure to provide accurate current status on
the size of the processing queue - makes trust very difficult.

I just noticed this when cleaning up the database for the end of the
 year. Running version 8.03.

I have several QSOs where a LoTW confirmation is the only confirmation
of a
particular zone on a particular band - mostly 160 and 6.

Even though the QSO is marked as confirmed via LoTW in my log, the zone
shows W (or M in a couple). I've gone to the trouble of looking
each Q
up in my LoTW account, and the other station, in every case, has included
  his zone.

Manually setting the Cfnm via QSL box to Y sets the zone as
confirmed.

Then, to test this further, I found 3 zones where I had both QSL and LoTW
confirmations (and the zone marked as C). In all three of those,
changing the QSL rcvd to N (and having the LoTW Cfnm still = Y)
changed the
 band/zone box from C to W or M.

In other words, it appears that a confirmation from LoTW is not setting
the
band/zone to confirmed. I am not seeing any setting that might affect
this, but perhaps that's right in front of my face. Or, perhaps this is
a
 bug?

Just reporting it, more than anything. I can get around it by
manually
setting the QSL rcvd to Y - but obviously shouldn't have to do
that

Re: [Dx4win] HELP - Multiple QSOs on one QSL label

2008-11-25 Thread N3SL

Rather basic question, but needs to be asked: Have you designed a label
with more than 1 QSO line on it?

Another thing to consider is the commercial line. I find that I can

line at the bottom that says something like QSO confirmed by DX4WIN.)

Another option is to use a taller label which will allow more lines of text
to be printed. The standard 15/16 tall label doesn't end up with many lines
for QSO data once Call Sign and header information is printed.

Help. I've read and re-read the User's Guide and I've diddled all

label. I've also searched the Archives without success. Can anyone tell
me how to trigger it?

I've tried MAX QSO at 0, 1 and 2, but I get the exact same results -
separate labels for each QSO.

I'm running version 705. What have I missed?

Maybe font size? Go To File|Databases|Labels| [your label}, double-click on
the call and body fonts and adjust the font size to one small enough to get
more than one per label.

Re: [Dx4win] Re: sorting QSLs by call area.

2008-06-26 Thread n3sl
The ARRL QSL Bureau does NOT handle US-to-US cards, unless their web
page is out of date. That statement is the very first thing on the
outgoing bureau page, and in bold print.

A better aproach is to set all print labels to yes, after that go to
print (Labelsprint qsl labelsprint). When you are in the final stage
you will see Destination=printer and pages=all. Change the destination
to Preview and press ok. Then you will see all the pages in your
screen. Dx4win sorts the cards in every bureau. You can see that w1
bureau is from page 1-14, w2 14-20, etc. Ofcourse it could be some qsos
in page 14 from the w2 bureau but it is a minor problem, i think. So
after that make this all agn. Now leav ethe destination=printer but
change the Pages=range and choose pages 1-14. Now you will have w1
bureau being printed. Becareful you must not clear the labels after
that because this will change the pages' numbers. Make the same
procedure agn and agn. When you finish do a search with f8, clear all
the labels (Labelsclear print labels) and set qsl date (QSOmultiple
QSO operationsset QSL date)

PS This method apply if someone wants to print cards only from one
bureau, example for SV bureau...

Bill, I could be wrong, but I don't believe ARRL will let you do

this. You might want to check with the incoming QSL bureau manager.

Here is a hard way to do it. Make sure you do NOT have any label

flags set for any QSOs first!

F8 search for K in prefix field and 0 in callsign field (you must
use substring matching). Generate labels for these QSOs only, then
print them. Do the same thing for #1, #2, #3 etc.

Portables will mess with this, but it's better than nothing. Or you
can search for / first and print all those labels, then at the end,
put those QSLs into the correct piles.

Subject: sorting QSLs by call area.

I have a large contest log ( now in DX4win ) that has only
stateside calls ( about 10,000 ) . We are going to QSL to all calls
in the log via the various Call area bureaus. I would like to print
out QSL labels by USA call areas. This will allow me to break up the
printing and at the same time group QSLs by USA call area for
packaging and mailing. Is there a simple approach?

   Thanks

[Dx4win] Bearing display bug?

2008-06-11 Thread n3sl
Perhaps this has been going on all along, and I've just noticed it, but
I find that hard to believe. I'm not aware of any settings I've
changed, although I did upgrade as soon as the latest version came out
a couple of weeks ago

If a spot comes in for say JA1AAA, the QSO info window will correctly
display a beam heading for me of 320.

I noticed this evening on 6 meter spots, however, that if the grid
square of the spotting station is put in the comments of the cluster
spot, DX4Win displays the beam heading to that grid square.

Example:

Spot: JA1AAA 50110.6 el96 - i.e. a Florida station in grid EL96
did the spotting and is simply saying the JA is making it into Florida.

My QSO window immediately shows JA1AAA and Japan, but the beam heading
is 135, i.e. to EL96

Bug? Some setting I'm not thinking of?

Thanks
