[Dx4win] Cabrillo File After SPDX Contest
Hello Friends, First of all thanks for participate in SPDX Contest. I would like to give you some suggestion about preparing Cabrillo file after the contest and import the logs into regular logs. There are small softwares with converters to Cabrillo and other files on Marek SP7DQR page. Visit the page http://sp7ps.pl/sp7dqr and under Converters topic you will find all necessery tools. They are easy to use. 73's Pawel, SP7PS http://sp7ps.pl http://shop.sp7ps.pl
[Dx4win] Adding Rig Freq to QSO
Hello Mel, There is another way to import frequency info into DX4WIN's note field. Use small software WL2DX4WIN and it converts ADIF file from WriteLog (and probably other contest softwares) to DX4WIN with right frequency, state and contest number informations. You can also add your own notes to all imported QSOs. Try it, it is free at http://sp7ps.pl/sp7dqr 73's Pawel, SP7PS http://sp7ps.pl http://shop.sp7ps.pl Mel Martin wrote: This is not a really satisfactory solution, as it is not possible to import/export this info in standard ADIF format... ie and ADIF import will lose your frequency data...
[Dx4win] Spots from DXTelnet
Hi Joe, there is file called DXT2WIN.TXT with step by step instruction in DXTelnet. I copied the following information from this file: 1) Start DXTelnet, go to Configuration menu then, Links and in the Link to DXHUNTER section set the DXHUNTER installation path string to: C:\DXTELNET\DXT4WIN\ Check the Enable Link check box, press Save, quit and restart DXTelnet connecting to any site, for instance connect to CQDX-IRC. 2) Run C:\DXTELNET\DXT4WIN\DXT4WIN.EXE 3) Nothing special must be done at DX4WIN side. If DXTelnet is your unique spot source, set the packet port to MSG. The link between DXTelnet and DX4WIN can now be two way (before it was ione way: DXT DX4WIN): in DX4WIN, set the message handshake string to: ThunderRT5Form|DXTelnetDX4WIN You can also use any other port value and DXTelnet spots will still be analysed by DX4WIN together with the other spots coming from the port you've set. 73's Pawel, SP7PS http://sp7ps.pl http://shop.sp7ps.pl Joe Young wrote: I seem to have lost the instructions for importing cluster spots from DXTelnet. [Dx4win] setting QSL manager to blank
Hi Jeff, You can erase the wrong manager from the database following way: 1. Go to File - Databases _ QSL Managers 2. Type the DX callsign and find it on the list - If you want to delate the whole line select the callsign and press CTRL-DEL - If you only need to delate the QSL manager info just select manager callsign and delete it by Backspace key You see, that it is possible to make very smart QSL managers information: e.g. from date 01-03-1999 to 31-12-2003 is QSL Manager, and after 01-01-2004 you make another line for the same station with blank QSL Manager info. And all contacts in 2004 will be without QSL manager printed. 73's Pawel, SP7PS http://sp7ps.pl http://shop.sp7ps.pl Jeff Stai WK6I wrote: hi - I have a couple calls here which have the wrong QSL manager info - in fact, the stations in question have NO QSL manager - but if I try to blank out the QSL manager space it just refills the space with the value I just deleted. [Dx4win] RTTY Software
Hi Bill, As I know, you can use MMTTY with DX4WIN. The only problem is, that MMTTY engine can not be include into commercial software as DX4WIN. So, if you have two unused COM ports or you are user of WinXP you are able to work RTTY within DX4WIN. But it doesn't work smooth and comfortable. I use this combo (DX4WIN and MMTTY) but only for short pile-up QSOs. For normal contacts I open MMTTY and work from that RTTY program. Why I do not like DX4WIN's RTTY? You can not pick the callsign nor name nor RST from the RTTY window. You have to put it manually in proper fields of DX4WIN. Of course the buffers use the right callsign, name, etc when you manually filled the right places first - I mean before sending the message. If you are user of WinXP there is small software that connect DX4WIN and MMTTY without any extra COM ports. The software emulate virtual com ports and in DX4WIN's setup you set e.g. COM 8 and in MMTTY COM 9. It works perfect but need WInXP (or Win2K, I think). 73's Pawel, SP7PS http://sp7ps.pl - Original Message - From: Bill Henderson [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Sunday, July 06, 2003 10:07 AM Subject: [Dx4win] RTTY Software Hi I don't have a rtty tnc. [Dx4win] IC-751A, UX14 and DX4WIN
Hello DX4WINners, One of my friends has just bought UX14 module for his IC-751A manufactured by Piexx. I spent all evening trying to configure the rig and software and have not succeed. I checked all settings, rig address, etc, but IC-751A/UX14 and DX4WIN no dot work properly. I also tried the hardware with WriteLog. It seems, that WL tries to connect radio, because if I turn radio off there is message No rig! in entry window. When I turn the radio on there is no frequency information in the window. [Dx4win] MMTTY xmit rcv keys
Hi Larry, It WORKS I downloaded this small software (it is driver installed in the system called MixW serial port bridge) and can work RTTY using DX4WIN and MMTTY without ANY COM ports! That is great information for guys with limited serial ports in computers. Let me to give few steps to explain how to configure drivers, DX4WIN and MMTTY (some of the information was taken from John WA9ALS's page http://www.qsl.net/wa9als/dx4win-mmtty-hardware.rtf): 1. You need Windows XP/2000 to work the combo DX4WIN/MMTTY without null-cable (I didn't try with other systms, but this info was taken from ReadMe file of the MixW serial port bridge. 2. Install MixW serial port bridge (all information about install driver is in the ReadMe file) 3. After install open System from Control Panel. Next select Hardware tab and click Device Manager. Find MixW serial port bridge under Multi-port serial adapters. Right-click on it and choose Properties. Select Properties tab and choose first and second emulated ports (COM101 and COM102 by default, BUT I suggest to change it to COM7 and COM8). Next close the System and reboot the computer. 4. Now configure DX4WIN to talk to the MMTTY. These settings are found in DX4WIN's File, Preferences, RTTY. RTTY interface: Type : regular COM Port: COM7 Baud rate: 9600 Flow control: RTS/CTS Data/Parity: 8 bits/no parity Scrollback capacity: 500 Options: X check for Dxspots _ announce DX to other window X Always in immediate mode (IMPORTANT!) X Use bell character' X Show function keys 5. MMTTY SETTINGS: Open MMTTY software and go to OPtions, Setup TNC Emulation(T) Port definition Port: COM8 Baud: 9600 Data length: 8 bits Stop: 1 bit Parity: None Flow control: CTS TNC type: TNC241 Local echo: After Sending X Disable window (IMPORTANT - see text) _ Stay on top You should be able now to receive RTTY in DX4WIN window. If you press CTRL+T it start transmit, by using CTRL+R you switch to receive mode. MixW software has developed a serial port emulation program that mimics two hardware serial ports talking to each other, thus eliminating the need for two additional serial ports to get MMTTY and DX4WIN communicating. The program is available for free download from their web site. See: http://www.mixw.net/related.htm I have just found this site today (after doing a google search) and am very excited about the possibilities for DX4WIN users that want to run RTTY without the hassle and cost of adding serial ports. I'll report back if/when I get this software working - but from the looks of the web site this should be straightforward. If someone else has already made it work... please let me know. -larry K8UT
