Hi Brad,

Did you check for updates before you tried to open your log ?
If not do that 1st

If yes then do the following 

Send your log(s) to a friend
That has the latest DX4WIN version running and ask him
To export your log (adif) in a previous version, for example 8
With this file it will import all again.

Hello Brad,

When you re-install dx4win, it uses an older version (I forget the exact
version number, but it's 9.0.3.something).  Do Help > Check for Updates and
the program will update itself to v 9.0.9.1259, which is the current
version.  (guess how I know this???)

[Dx4win] Error Message

Suddenly, I get an error message every time I try to add a new contact to my 
DX4WIN log  (Ver. 909 and up-to-date).  I am connected from my PC to my radio 
by a USB cable that has controlled the radio and log flawlessly.  Everything 
still works, except:
 I mouse click on a call displayed on the cluster and it populates my log 
page.
 I work the displayed call, enter the relevant information (signal report, 
notes, etc) into the log and then click the  key on my PC keyboard.
 I get an ERROR window that says”Value in range 0 to 1E+30 expected” and 
the QSO is not entered in the log.

[Dx4win] Error Message

I was having trouble with the Packet window not showing.I ultimately
uninstalled the program and reinstalled it.  It ran for about an hour when
I took a break.  I returned an hour later, booted the program and got the
following error message: This happened on two different computers.  Any
ideas on why this happened?

[Dx4win] Error message

Hello, I have been using the DX4WIN since the first versions and it has
always seemed to me to be very stable software.
Lately, when I try to move some windows, I get an error message, which is
possibly due to the hardware and not the software.
The message is as follows:


*An exception occurred!Access violation at address 006014D7 in module
´dx4win.exe´.Read of address .*

I use a laptop with win 10, possibly this error is caused by a hardware
failure, has someone got this message?

down for any reason.

[Dx4win] Error message when starting DX4Win

I am getting an Error message when trying to start DX4WIN.   I have sent a
bug report.  Don't know why I am getting the message.  Only thing different
from when the I exited the program the other day is that I shut off the
computer using the normal method.  Please let me know what to do.

Thank you so much! That's exactly what it was, no country.dat file in the \save 
folder. Copied one over from \backup and I'm good to go.  And if it happens 
again, I now know what to do.

to an overzealous virus checker. You likely have a backup copy in the backup 
sub-directory. 
Also check if you use a secondary backup that is on a network drive or USB 
stick. These connections often go away and come back again.

One interesting thing is that after pressing F9 the date field is blank, the 
time is 00:00 (which it isn't right now), the county field shows 
Fqso_cntyStrIx, Custom Award shows Fqso_award and Custom award value shows 
Fqso_award_value. Zone is 0. Not sure if that helps.

[Dx4win] Error message

The following error message comes up too often and then disappears.  I have the 
latest update as of July 17.  And version 9.0.4.2176. 

Today it came up when I entered qso info from a recently received QSL card. As 
I picked up the phone to compose this message, the error message disappeared by 
itself.

“an error occurred in the application. Choose either continue application, 
restart application, or close application. “

[Dx4win] Error message

I am having a problem with Dx4Win v8.04 and v8.05. If and when I 
enter a QSL MGR's call sign and address info into the qsl mgr window
all is fine until I hit ALT S.

I then get an ERROR BOX,  with this msg inside.

ERROR
AN EXCEPTION OCCURRED
UNABLE TO CREATE DIRECTORY
OK!
I have put qsl calls and mgr addresses in the mgr window until I'm 
blue in the face.
I need to print out labels for qsls and until I get this figured out 
a can't print out the labels
due to the mgr info keeps disappearing.

Any Help would be appreciated.

Hugh, what are you doing EXACTLY?  I tried it and it worked for me:

File | Databases | Manager Addresses

I put AD1C in the Manager field, then Edit | Add Address

I typed in the address (4 lines maximum) then File | Save Changes and Exit

ALT-S doesn't enter into the picture, that's for saving your log.

C:\PROGRAM FILES\dx4w701\SAVE\brag.txt
Note the colon and the extension...

is it possible that you have made a mistake with the file extension?

Another possibility is if your folder options normally hide the 
extensions for known file types... if you see brag.txt in the directory 
listings it might actually be brag.txt.txt

I would also check your SAVE directory.  You show it as all caps.
It is installed as lower case  /save ...
Same with PROGRAM FILES ...
Alo as mentioned, I doubt if the extension for your brag
tape is  .text ,   probable saved as .txtor  .doc

This is probably a USB problem, same error occurs when using USB - Winkey
and for some unknown
WINDOWS reason the serialport number has changed or the device has been
removed or shut off

I get this error if the radio COM port interfaces are not defined
correctly or if I try to open DX4Win if another program has the Winkey
interface open. It's definitely related to COM port errors.

Paul should try to trap and process this error gracefully if possible.

I run DX4WIN almost 24/7 with no radio connected.  I have never seen 
this problem.

Currently running 7.07.02 with Windows XP Pro.

You might try updating to see if the problem goes away.

[Dx4win] Error Message

I don't know but you can search for the errors
just hit f8 and write error in notes field.
I suppose that yout adif.pmp file is not updated but i am not sure

I keep trying to reset my DX4WIN to receive spots from 
the internet and it fails.

I get the following message each time and on the second
attempt it locks up the program.

X  An Exception Occurred.
List Index out of bounds (0)

Any help here?

Hi all,
Currently i have two logbooks. One major logbook and one smaller logbook 
containing qso's from OO/pfx.
I'd like to merge these two logbooks but i need to be able to somehow keep 
track of these qso from the smaller logbook. In order to print qsl labels 
seperately from the allready larger excisting logbook.
What/how should i do this? Give a group number to the smaller logbook? And 
how do i retrieve these data's again ones it is merged with the larger 
logbook? Do i need to change the rep/lab comments everytime for qsl labels?
Yes i have read the help file but it is way too complicated and not to the 
point.

It sounds like you have firewall software installed.  Make sure it's 
configured to enable DX4WIN access to the Internet

database from ON4AOI's web site.
