Re: [Dx4win] Report

2020-02-07 Thread kostas sv1dpi

The right dx4win procedure for this is

1) Let the QSO confirmed as it really is. In other case you may forget
in the future that you have a card and send again...

2a) to mark Invalid (I) when you expand the QSO window in the award the
QSO is invalid

or

2b) to write a 0 in rstR if the QSO is invalid for all awards.

Hello Luc,

You also need to change it at the bottom of the QSO window, under DXCC, for
Mixed, Band, and Mode. Use the F5 key to open the QSO window all the way to
see these boxes.

T6AA is very active these days and you should be able to work him for YA
credit. GL.

Hi,
I sent my QSL to the ARRL to request my DXCC endorsement.
I only have 3 entities left to work and confirm:
KH8 / S Swains Is.
P5 DPR of Korea
YA Afghanistan

The two QSLs I sent from Afghanistan EA4FAS / YA and YA / IW0HPJ were
rejected for the DXCC because the operators did not have the relevant
documentation.
My question is this:
With the F8 filter, I search the two stations in Afghanistan and change the
"Y" to "N" in Cnfm, I save the file, and when I ask for a report of the
entities I need, it indicates that YA, is confirmed despite having put "N"
in Cnfm.
I could solve it, putting in the field rstR, instead of 5/9 a "0".
I think this is not the right way and is due to a program error, maybe Paul
can tell me how I should do it.
Greetings to all.

entities I need, it indicates that YA, is confirmed despite having put "N"
in Cnfm.
I could solve it, putting in the field rstR, instead of 5/9 a "0".
I think this is not the right way and is due to a program error, maybe Paul
can tell me how I should do it.
Greetings to all.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN report for LoTW

2018-08-29 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Hello Isidor

A way to do it is to search for all contacts you have confirmed by LOTW.
Press F8 and change LoTW Confirm to Y in the QSO window.
Then you have selected all your QSOs confirmed by LOTW.
Export them by clicking File|Import/Export and select DX4WIN9 in the
Import/Export window. Click File|Export. Save the file as e.g. LoTW
Exit Import/Export window by clicking File|Exit.
Create a new logbook by clicking File|New and name it e.g. LoTW.
Then import the file you just exported by clicking File|Import/Export and
select DX4WIN9 in the Import/Export window. Click File|Import and select
the file you just exported. Click open
Now you have a new logbook with just your contacts confirmed in LoTW and
you could create a DXCC report for them.

Hello all. Many thanks to SV1DPI and to N7NU for their answers. I had
done what Kostas suggested, but the resulting numbers always included
all QSOs, whatever I clicked only LoTW, only Paper QSL, or both. I
tried deleting (temporarily!) the QSOs confirmed only via paper QSL, but
I guess this method is not the best.

Well, I keep looking for a way to get a DXCC summary using only the LoTW

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN report for LoTW

2018-08-19 Thread kostas sv1dpi

Yes it is even the normal is someone wants to see all cfmd entities,

First of all save your log. It is better to have it saved in another
place also.

Go to File>Awards and in DXCC tab under Confirmation check only the LotW
(normally LotW and QSL Card are checked - this means which confirmations
are ok for DXCC).

Then in QSO window go to Reports>DXCC and press Award flags. Clear
possibly submitted and checked flags.

Now your log has only LotW confirmations. See your statistics.

DO NOT SAVE your Log as you destroy possibly checked or submitted flags.

Do the same for the QSLs

I always do a PRINT PREVIEW before printing labels. For one thing, it shows

Click on Reports, when the window comes up, click on the Award Flags
button. You want to change "Submitted" to "Checked" for each award
type (DXCC Band, DXCC Mode, DXCC Mixed, etc.).

Also see the article about DXCC tracking on http://dx4win.ad1c.us to
check if DX4WIN matches what your totals at the ARRL are. The page
may not have been updated for DX4WIN8, but the concepts are the same.

If there were country file errors, let me know and I'll try to fix
them. There are instructions at http://www.country-files.com/dx4win/
on how to identify them.

[Dx4win] Report Window Entries

2011-01-05 Thread R.T.Liddy
Fellow DX4WIN'ers,

I'm still in the learning mode with DX4WIN since getting it in
December.  I've been able to figure a lot of things out on my
own by playing around and using the Help File.

I've imported almost 30,000 QSOs from my previous logging
program and from LOTW.  I had over 1200 import errors, but I've
fixed all those easily - tedious process.

When I look at my QSOs with the Report Window for DXCC, it shows
nothing but S's.  OK, after 50 years as a Ham I have lots of Countries
and Bands and Modes Confirmed and the DX4WIN appears to show
just about all of them.  However, these ALL have been submitted and
counted for various Awards. Same goes for WAS, but the Report shows
all C's for them.

So, is there a way to turn all of these S's and C's to the *'s that indicate
their
correct status?  I certainly don't want to sit at the computer and manually
search for each of these thousands of QSO's and change them.  It would
literally be thousands of entries to be changed.

Maybe I'm missing some simple procedure that would update them ALL?
That would be wonderful because I simply wouldn't do it one at a time.

Thanks,   Bob K8BL

[Dx4win] report by manager

2010-05-25 Thread ik1MDF
Hi,
sometimes it is useful to send QSLs for different CALLS to the same manager.

Is it possible to have a sort "by manager" in SELECT REPORT?

Re: [Dx4win] Report fields in the Report Generator window

2009-11-11 Thread Mel
There is no bug that I can see Vigis. It works fine, you can change the
sort Index without changing any fields. I really don't understand your
problem...

You don't have to use the Report Editor to change the sort index. Just
select the Report and it gives you the option to change the Sort Index.

[Dx4win] Report fields in the Report Generator window

2009-11-11 Thread LY2CX
Hi All,

I want to share what I don't like in this perfect software.
By the way this was in the v.1.2 and my wish was to skip from this
within the upgrade to v.8.02.

The question is related with the Report: LogBook window.
Particular with the EDITING of this LogBook Report.

If on the Report LogBook to click right mouse button,
to choose Report Editor we will get open Report Generator window.
O the right side of this window there is a list of Report fields.
Problems:
1.Those Report fields (when open this window) mismatch with the existing
Report LogBook fields that I have and would like to EDIT.
2. E.g. I would like only to change the Sort Index in Report Generator
window, but I can't do simply only this, I always must check Report
fields and to EDIT them, otherwise
if I will pres Ok button I will get totally different Report LogBook.
I don't have a clue where from those Report fields are picked up by the
software. This really confuses all the time.

Sorry if this already was reported, but it's still there, or there are
some workarounds.

Yes, if it doesn't do that today, I don't see why that should not be
possible. That would fix your RTTY problem, as well as all other

It is a rather minor point, but the choice of the asterisk to denote
a credited entity in the DX4WIN reports is a most unfortunate one for
those of us who want to export the reports to a comma-delimited
format and manipulate them in Excel. It seems Excel sees the asterisk
as a "wild card" character, and all kinds of weird things can happen
when putting the character into formulas, etc. I've had to make it a
routine practice to first open the report.csv file in WordPad, do a
search and replace to change the asterisk into something more
Excel-friendly, such as X, and re-save the file before it's ready for
Excel. It would be nice if there were some other choice than the
asterisk, hard-coded or not.

That's easy.

Export your log to DX4WIN6 format. The .DXN file will have the info you want

I am trying to figure out how to generate a logbook report that will have only
2 columns - each unique call in the database (not each QSO) and the notes for
that call. As a secondary goal, but one I probably can't achieve within
DX4WIN, I would then like to trim the second column so that only the text

Has anyone gone down this road before? I am trying to generate a Call History

It sounds like you are trying to set the label font in the Preferences.
You need to go to Labels/Print QSL Labels then click the Edit button and
change the font there. You can select a callsign font and a body font
for the label.

I have a licensed DX4W 6.03 installed on a Win95 box which is dying
(actually, it's dead). So I need to get the program running on a new XP
box.

I prefer to put my energies first into restoring my logging capability,
then into upgrading.

Can somebody please point me to a dx4w603.exe install file. Thanks.

All the best,

Too easy! Export your log to DX4WIN# format. The .DXN file will have the info
you seek, first line is unique call, second line is callsign notes.

I have started working on DX4WIN.CTY version 17. The changes will be much less
radical this time (almost all based on user feedback):

The QSL manager part is not up-to-date yet.

As always, please inform me of other changes as soon as possible.

Pete,

1. You can repeat the ADIF notes field for a single QSO multiple times,
like: oneabcdeabcd

2. If the ADIF file as the field for each QSO, you can
ignore that field by setting the freq filter option in the ADIF import
filter. But setting this option will also ignore the ADIF field.

I am attempting to produce a report that would have two columns, unique
callsigns (that is only one record per callsign) and "notes for that
callsign" Is there any way to do this with the reporting capabilities

Those who want to print directly to .PDF files *for free* might want to
take a look at CutePDF:

[Dx4win] report printing/landscape

2005-01-01 Thread ARS NZ3O (Byron) FM29fx
This has been true since 6.03 was released. I completed
a bug report and posted the finding here as soon as I loaded
the new release. The workaround that I've used is to output
to Adobe Acrobat and use Adobe to print - I know few people
have the authoring Acrobat installed, but I was lucky enough to
be able to use this workaround. You might find some other
intermediate form that works for you. (Excel, SunOffice, etc)

I understand the "fix" is in a patch that is "soon to be released".

How do I decode the rig control "script" so I can change which filter et

I open "ICOM 756 Pro.rig" and most of the lines makes sense but I'm
stuck on defining the filter selection.

Ver 6.03 & IC-756PROIII.

Thanks, and Happy New Year to all.

Hello all !

Is there a chance that on the next update, the log printing will offer
the possibility NOT to print the "Logbook sorted by date" title on top
(the date will appear in French in my case, not the rest of the title)
and the "printed by Dx4Win" add at the bottom ?
My log would be 566 pages, and I do not intend to print it in one go (my
printer would not like to work so hard at once ...)
Is the only option to export to a csf file and print out of Excel ? if
so, the whole procedure has to be remembered, in terms of column widths,
etc.
Thanks and happy celebrations, with thoughts about those who will not
celebrate tonight, especially all our South Asian friends.

Good morning and Happy New Year to all.

I have tried to print out my 2004 logbook and normally (the older
versions), I set my printer to print in landscape mode.

Tried this (with 3 printers) using Ver 6.03 and despite setting the
landscape mode in the set-up screen, it continaully defaults back to
normal print..most annoying and a waste of paper to boot. I did set
each printer that I tried as the default printer thinking that might
help, but nope.

I tried to find something in the archives but didn't/couldn't

2004-11-02 Thread Todd
Well like I said, I agree fundamentally but to be honest I can see both just as
well at this point of my life. I'm sure a day will come that I may change that
tune. Just in case anyone's wondering I'm on a 19" screen at 1600 x 1200
(thought I was at 1024 x 768 still) because I wanted to have too much open on
the screen at once, (like every window) and have done so since version 4.x .

I suppose I could used to an "O" as well any other letter :O)

WWMWMWM
works too LOL!

I think the only solution to this whole problem is to have this:

CCC

We all can see that one. Anyway, thanks for the bandwidth and I'm mostly just
funnin' with everyone cuz' it don't much matter to me what letter is used and
if the majority wants something other than "M" that's fine with me. I want all
 "C's" anyway :O)

[Dx4win] Report Improvement Suggestion

2004-11-01 Thread Kevin K7VI
Sure, that's a fair comment. But screen real estate is valuable, especially
in a multi-window user interface like DX4Win uses. I run at 1600x1200 on a
20" LCD, but I'm a software developer so am a bit odd... ;-)

Seriously, I like having my Reports window stretched out. Ditto my spot
window. Plus I have 8 or 9 other small windows open. Makes for a nice
logging "experience". Can't see how that could be done at 640x480. :)

Why not make these characters user configurable? Easy. Just takes time and
testing. Provide a "default" button to stop the insanity and return to the
recommended values when the user is tired of customizing.

It's so easy to make user interface suggestions. I was a UI designer for
nearly 10 years, so I have some appreciation for being on the other side of
the compiler.

white? The significant confusion factor is the consistency of vertical and
slanted lines seen (pun again) in using the M and W.

Here's the example:

MMWMMWW
MMOMMOO

Which is easier to distinguish?

Not an "S", if you think confusing M for a W is a problem, wait till you
have an S for "sent" AND an S for Submit!

After checking for new countries/modes/bands/zones worked the day after CW
WW SSB was over, I suddenly realized that there is a possible improvement
to the report function of DX4WIN.

I'd love to see the "M" for "Mailed" changed to "S" for "Sent". When
scanning a report to check to see if the QSL has been "Mailed", it is very
hard to discern an "M" from a "W". Given that the LOTW option allows you
to "Send" a card electronically, rather than "Mail" it, it also makes sense
from this perspective. I already have trifocals.and I doubt THAT will
improve! ;-)

Thanks for considering

  Joe,

That is something that I would also like to see. Being beyond
trifocals
and using the Varilux style glasses with infinite focal points another
problem
that I have encountered is the difference between asterisk for credited and a
period for a blank spot in the report. More than once I read that wrong. My
preference would be a dash or blank for an empty block in the reports. An X
in
lieu of the asterisk would also work.

Just changing one so there is more contrast between them would do it
for
me. That was a suggestion that I made a few revisions back.

Dear John Paul,

It is 100% Sovereign, not Soviet. I believe it goes back to days when Malta
was in British Empire and was (the whole Island!) awarded the George Cross
for gallantry for their outstanding efforts and bravery during World War 2

Kind Regards

Has anyone else had a problem logging this one in.
I cannot find it on the countries list and am thinking I will
have to add that country.

Do you want to submit them, or just find them? To submit them, you found
the correct entry - DXCC -> Submission. It will generate the report
listing all the QSOs that are confirmed, ready to be submitted.

If you just want to find them, save your log, do the submission report,
print the submission report, restore your saved log.

Thanks, Jim -- it came out as one line per callsign in what amounts to .csv

This is easy. Export your log to DX4WIN format. The .DXN file will
contain what you want, but it will be two lines. Calls that do NOT have
anything in the QSO Notes field will NOT be in the file.

Dave,
This is not a BUG
It's because reports are now possible for AURORA, Meteor Scatter, EME, Rain
Scatter etc
the RST field can be 59A - R27 etc, for more details read the manual its

But I also think "extended" signal reports should be optional... for most
59 & 599 is adequate and preferable...
