[Dx4win] DX4WIN and FT8

2020-09-16 Thread wd4ngb
I have been using DX4WIN since 98, and love it. I am using 8.05, since
9.x did not really offer anything that was of interest to me at the time.

I recently purchased a new TS890S, and love all the features it has,
plus better for digital modes. I have been active on RTTY for decades,
and with all the hype about the newer digital modes, decided to test the
waters with FT8. It does do a good job a weak signal communications, and
seems to be popular with many DX-Peditions.

I read over some of the prior archives, and from what I can make out,
9.x does not support it, other than allowing some merging of logs from
some FT8 apps, into DX4WIN. Since FT8 and FT4 are so popular, and
growing, is there any plans to incorporate it into DX4WIN, similar to
MMTTY? If so, I will place my Pre-Order now. :)

If not, I guess I can do a Log Merge once a week.

Hello Andy,

There are a couple of ways to do this. Since you have already ordered
version 9, the easiest way would be to wait until you have it up and running
and simply import your WSJT-X adif log or log them manually as FT8.

You may log the QSOs as TOR in version 8 and have TQSL change them to FT8
when it uploads them. In TQSL:

File > Display or Modify Preferences... > ADIF Modes > Add...
Type TOR into the ADIF Mode: box, select FT8 from the Resulting TQSL mode
list, and click OK. Click OK at the bottom of the next window.

TQSL will now automatically change all of the TOR QSOs to FT8. When you
upgrade to version 9, you can change them all back to FT8 with the multiple
QSO operations function. There is more info on this in the reflector
archives over the past few months.

Good luck in the Chiltern DX marathon.

Gary,

I have not been using FT8 much or for long until recently although I did dip
my toes in some weeks ago. Now, however, I have worked a few new ones for
the UK CDXC marathon and as they count I might as well transfer them to my
DX4Win 8.05 log. But I did see some instructions somewhere indicating that
as DX4Win 8.05 does not recognise FT8 one has to change the mode to TOR or
similar and then change it back before submitting the integrated log to Club
Log and LoTW. My problem is I cannot find these instructions. Can anyone
please suggest where I should look?
