Re: [Dx4win] Development

2020-04-05 Thread Paul F6EXV

Hi Bruce
Let's face it : the 2 major competitors to DX4Win are Logger32 and DXLab.
Both are free, and very well supported. I am also thankfull to all our
DX4W friends who kindly spend their time answering any questions.

They basically do everything DX4Win does, plus other things.
Yes I agree, DX4Win is intuitive, and I lilke the ease of searching
through the log with several criteria (like all the QSO on 17m in CW
with Chile for example). Other features are very nice too.

One major difference is what I mentioned in my original message : easy
and "automatic" interaction with LoTW and JTDX/WSJT.
I have been testing L32, and could easily configure it so that each QSO
is automatically uploaded to Clublog and to LoTW upon completion. No
need to do anything to achieve that.
When I make a contact in JTDX, the QSO is automatically transfered to
L32, no mouse click whatsoever

I wish DX4Win would allow the same possibilities.

But even more important, lack of communications from the developpers is
sort of unacceptable, keeping in mind the program is not free. And I am
not talking about myself on this...

So, what next ?
73 and stay away from the beast !

I have been using Dx4Win for about 15 years. With the help of Dx4Win I
have been able to track my contacts and have achieve the Honor Roll. It
does everything I need and more. It is very easy to use and is very
intuitive not like many of the other logging programs out there. Dx4Win is
a bargain for what it does. I wouldn't change logging programs if someone
paid me. If it's not broken, don't fix it.

Re: [Dx4win] Development

2020-04-04 Thread n4qs
Paul,

Try LogHX3. It can be setup to look and operate like DX4WIN, but has all
the additional features that we have been asking for. In just one week, I
have it up and running with 167,000 QSOs imported from DX4WIN. Alexei,
RX4HX, appears to be very actively supporting it with frequent updates. I
will continue to use DX4WIN for storing past dxpeditions, and I have been a
long supporter of DX4WIN. But I will likely move to LogHx for everyday
logging from my main station. I love the way it integrates with WSJT-X,
MMTTY, FLDigi and other programs. It fully supports UDP broadcasts. It
will automatically upload QSOs to Clublog, QRZ.COM and other websites.
These are all features that I need to have especially as I get ready for the
summer Es season on 6 meters.

Dave, N4QS

Hi all
Can we know if the developers' team is working on major improvement,
especially on interaction with Clublog and LoTW ?
It is VERY sad that we are getting no information, no reply whatsoever on
questions regarding future developments.
DX4Win is getting old compared to competition, some of it free of charge.

I have been a DX4Win user for MANY years, but I am thinking of giving it up

Re: [Dx4win] Development

2020-04-04 Thread Paul F6EXV

Guy
Thanks for your input.
I disagree with you : to take a simple example, L32LogSync will
(automatically for each QSO if you set it up this way) upload QSOs to
ClubLog and/or LoTW very easily.
JTDX and WSJT make provisions to send QSO directly to some logs, like
Logger32 for example, and it is not the only one. We cannot log into
DX4Win, and this requires an import of the whole WSJT log, duplicated
included...

These features are very usefull, and make our lifes easy.
Whether QSOs are uploaded one by one, or every X period, the total
trafic is the same alltogether.

But the main point is : what are the developpers working on, if on
anything ?

WE NEED INFORMATION !

Paul,
My point of view is that
all these automatic uploads leads to many errors
and unneeded internet traffic.

check eQSL where I get every week claims for qso's
with wrong band, wrong time etc even fake qso's are
there now and then.
I prefer the way it is now, after I overlooked my log I upload.

I have a total of 3711 bandslots with deleted (160M<>13cm) on clublog
and 3662 without deleted, if you check clublog on all bands my Ranking = Nr
1
Also on WAZ my Ranking is 1st place, I have 11 bands WAS and only 2 more on
6M to have 12 bands WAS
I couldn't have done it without DX4WIN that is sure

My 2 cents
