Re: [Dx4win] VK5 DX Zones
I work very hard to make sure the DX Marathon is scored properly.
VK5 has
always been in Zone 30. I am a representative of CQ as well, so my
scoring database is very accurate.

As an Aussie ham, I was taught VK3FM/6, for instance, was the way to go if I,
as a VK3, was operating portable from WA, VK6. The cynic in me cannot help but
comment that there were definable standards in those days…not so much now…sadly.

Not stupid.

Yes, the LOTW entry shows Z29 in the confirmation. I don't remember now but
am guessing after downloading the confirmation ADIF file from and entering
it into my DX4WIN file either

What surprises me is that otherwise mature DXers seem nonplussed by a very
basic issue…VK5 was, is, and will be in zone 30.
End.

LOTW works on the GIGO system - virtually no station info verification
exists.
After further observation, a correction is due. LOTW used to be GIGO,
but it appears that they've made significant improvements in the TQSL
station location setup.

I just received my 2021 DX Marathon UBN results back and I got dinged
for entering VK5DOC for Z29. The VK5DOC qrz.com page does not show
what zone he is in.
DX4WIN gets the zone data from the CTY.DAT file, maintained by AD1C.
When I put VK5DOC into my dx4win I get zone 30...
