Have you considerer using flash for this project ? I think It would be fore
suitable. Moreover Flash 5 supports sockets and its new ActionScript is 99%
Javascript. I think it offers a lot of possibilities for network games.

BTW, the grass is drawn from commands issued by the server... this is how
