I am seeking highly motivated individuals to apply to the ECS
I highly recommend everyone take a look at a related page Charles Fox has:

There are some very amusing quotes on his page.

testing a priori causal hypotheses.
Next time someone asserts correlation doesn't demonstrate causation ask them
when the last time was that they used regression. The ensuing argument can be
quite amusing.

In that case I'd argue that your use of path analysis was essentially
exploratory in nature and thus would carry with it the same sort of caveats as
any exploratory analysis whether conducted using regression (e.g. step-wise
regression) or any other exploratory analysis.

Wait a minute... I'm pretty sure that I've seen this approach at dealing with
the problem...

Whether that is an over simplification, I don't know.

In the email I sent out a moment ago I attached what now appears to be a
link to a hoax site (a pretty well done one). I was looking for a link to a
news report regarding Dow and Bhopal and found that site and what seemed
like a ridiculous slip up.
My apologies.

Is anyone aware of mark-recapture libraries for R? Specifically Pradel
models?
I have searched the various listservs via CRAN's recommended search engines
as well as the available libraries to no avail.
Thanks for any help.

don't have to have too much
concern about whether or not you've properly articulated (or understand) the
underlying statistical model you're testing.

is.
For systems like that of wolves where a dominant pair does the majority of
the breeding, if I recall correctly, game theory models have done a good job
demonstrating ESSs for cooperation.

Can multilevel selection occur? Most certainly.
How common it is remains a different issue, which like the prevalence (or
not) of sympatric speciation, may in part be due to the assumptions made in
our statistical tests and how we frame questions.
