Is such an elaborate carrying case necessary? To carry my
KX1 around, I use a plastic toolbox I bought on sale at Ace
for 5 bucks. To cushion the KX1, I set it on some of the
pink bubble wrap that Elecraft used to package the kit.
This works pretty well, and there's plenty of room in the
It is not necessary , but I really enjoy a nice looking and heavyduty kit.
Everybody have the choice !!! ;-)

Hi Bill,
I just went though this last week with my K2/100 driving a SB200. I was able
to minimize this
(but not eliminate it) by increasing R99 (on BOTTOM of main board...I spent
about a half hour
looking for it on the top!) .

What is the theory, or greater breadth of physics about toroid transformers?
When did they come about, and what was the logic in replacing “C” or “E”
frames (for non-RF applications).
I had an old Uti-Com Communications radio that used a toroid switcher, and
many other aspects of the radio
Wow, thanks for all the replies regarding the Ameritron
RCS-8. All but one were very positive...the one negative
comment seems to be the result of an early component
failure. Anyway I'm inclined to give it a try, it will let me
avoid having to replace two 100 ft hunks of 213!

I put a trimpot on mine, to temporarily seek the right value

I put together a battery pack using three 17 Ah. batteries, packed into a nice
cooler - makes a nice package, which weighs 39 lbs. total. I've installed a
cigarette lighter outlet, and have a cable for the K-2 - it is really handy.
I would like to be able to recharge it while driving, using

Dear all
After reading the last posts with different proposals to solve the
antenna setup in a limited space scenario of one of the list members I
decided to ask as well for advice. I am quite sure that I will get good
ideas that perhaps will change my mind.
The scenario and past experiences are
Forgive the OT nature, but this may prevent some of the OT Internet Explorer

Just went there Tom, and the give away is over.

- Dilbert, Scott Adams,
I saw a couple of posts recently talking about the Pelican 1060 as a case
for the KX1. Does anyone have suggestions for alternatives? I am going on
a backpacking trip out west and would like something to protect the rig, but
I'm not sure if the 1060 is big enough to get the Elecraft paddles,
Mike,
You would be surprised what you can fit in a waist pack.

Hi,
This is my first post to the list.
I wondered if there are any people in the Seattle area with experience
of calibrating a K2?
I have just finished building mine and am looking for a more experienced

I'm using a small semi-rigid Case Logic camera case. Works great, unzip one
side panel to access small pouches for earphones, extra batteries, etc. and
the other to get at the rig and antenna. Fits into the backpack nicely,
cushions the rig nicely, and holds it's shape under reasonable amounts
I have measured the output power on my KX1 with 14VDC supply voltage to be
3.5W on 30, 3.2W on 40, and 2.3W on 20. These seem a bit low to me...
