[Elecraft] K2 #4595 - Almost Dead

2007-07-02 Thread epalmer
I forgot to power down my K2 last night before I went to bed. Well this morning I noticed the display was blank and no audio was coming from the speakers. The only sign of life is a slight pop from the speaker when powering the K2 back to ON with either the external supply or the internal battery.

Ed, You will have to open the cover and make some measurements before we can comment further, but about all we can say right now is that you have a problem somewhere in the power supply circuits or the voltage regulators. Do some DC voltage measurements as indicated in the troubleshooting

[Elecraft] Mobile K2/100? with detached control head??

2007-07-02 Thread Howard W. Ashcraft
I am considering modifying my K2/100 for mobile operation. Ideally, I would detach the front panel and control board and mount them in the dash or near the driver with the remaining transceiver pieces in the rear of my SUV in a modified EC2. The SUV radio/CD player has an auxiliary input, so I

I'm sure this has been asked and answered before, so please forgive me if this is redundant. If I were to purchase a factory-built K3/10 would I be able to buy and add the 100 watt amp later (add it myself, that is)? Thanks Tom WB2QDG K2 #1103 (and pretty happy with it)

Tom, Yes, all the options, including the KPA3, are user installable. After installation you will have to go to one of the CONFIG menu options to actually activate the option. Thanks. - 73, Greg - AB7R Whidbey Island WA NA-065 On Mon Jul 2 12:30 , Tom McCulloch

Typically in audio applications you don't worry about impedance matching, an aux input is typically a high Z (think input stage of op amps or similar) and they are expecting a low output impedance from whatever you are feeding it with. You should feed an aux input with line level audio. Matt

Does the K2 have an adjustment to correctly set the cw speed? If it does I can't seem to find it. When I set the CW speed on mine on 20 wpm it actually sends about 25 to 27 wpm. I realize that you can slow this down by more spacing between the letters, but it would be nice if it could be
