Subject: [Elecraft] K3 and Javornik II transverter
Hi,
Is anyone here running a Javornik II 2m transverter with their K3? just
wondering how well the two perform
Hi Dominik,
Thanks. I already have the Javornik which is currently used with my

Hi Jeff
Thanks. I already have the Javornik.
Out of interest, can you split the TX/RX paths on the K144XV? I need to
add a couple of filters in the receive line to keep some fairly big
local signals out.

This is disappointing news. I certainly would have not bought the TCXO's for my
K3's if this fact was known.

Hi Dave
Thanks for the info. That should all be fine.
On the K144XV can the TX and RX be split at 144MHz? That is where I need
to add the extra filtering.
I presume that the second RX is still available as a separate input when
using the transverter interface? The Javornik transverter has two
Hi Dave,
Thanks. I think I may have created some confusion here too!
My transverter has two receive converters, i.e two 144MHz antenna inputs
and two separate 14MHz IF ports. In normal operation I want to run with
one receive converter on the K3 main RX, and the other on the K3 sub.

Many of us K2 folks are into QRP ...
I thought you might enjoy some photos I posted on my website at

Hi everyone,
As a recent purchaser of a factory built K3/100 with the lot (except for the
second receiver) I'd first of all like to thank the folk at Elecraft and in
particular Wayne and Eric for making this wonderful radio.
I have used it for a little bit on HF but it's mainly been on 6 2M
First observation: the maximum filter width that I can adjust for an AM
signal with the 6 KHz filter switched in is 5 KHz. Is this normal? So, is
this value in my filter adjustment the whole signal width (both sidebands) or
just half the signal width? Note: I do not have a wider

I did not build the k2 so I'm afraid I dont know where to start to
trouble shoot.

If the KDSP2 module is plugged in all the way, it usually takes quite a

Joe,
Cutting the tip off the stem bumper is not drastic at all, and is
exactly what is called for in the instructions. See the first step on
page 60 of the K2 manual in the right column.
With the stem bumper cut, you can then press down on the resistor body
to tighten the fastenings for L33.
ok, Thanks Don! I will try it tomorrow.
I didnt mean the hole DSP module came off just the surface mount cap C2 on
the DSPx module.
thanks again!

For 80 thru 20 meter operation, I would advocate an 88 foot dipole. 44

I am always portable and for a quick antenna when portable, if you
have a vehicle mounted antenna with RG8/59 connected to it, just
remove the antenna and attach a long wire and throw that up into the
trees...the K3 ATU handles mine just fine..80-10M.
My 2 cents worth, keep the change mate!
