that a signal report be sent and logged by both parties. Neither cares
whether it was accurate, though, and most of the time it is never

I use a USB hub serial connection (two 8-port ByteRunner USB-to-serial
interfaces for a total of 16 ports!) for both of my K3s and have no problems

I stand corrected ... I also can find no DXCC requirement that a signal

I was doing some checks on my bandpass filters last night and noticed
the the swr on 12m is 1.5 or 1.6 :1 this is into a dummy load. All the
other bands read 1:1 as expected. Could this be just a meter anomaly or
is something possibly amiss in the radio?

As long as you don't care or want a confirmation you can pretty much claim
whatever you want. If you logged hearing them, then you can say you are a
SWL. Maybe that is sufficient for you?
Some of us do want a confirmation so we want to make sure we have a good QSO
and are in their log, regardless
would that be K3PO by any chance?

I tried the iPhone app last night. With the serial server running on a PC I got
it to work once I set the baud rate correct. My observations:
1. On 20m psk31 the k3 seems to decode any sig in the passband. If no streaming
audio provisioned could not determine if stn on frequency or not.
2.
There's another program, that does require that you have the PC running
at the local station, but works REALLY REALLY well at both
controlling, operating CW and SSB as well as having an amazing DX Cluster
program. There's a version that runs on the iPhone/iPad and another

I find it strange that in ARRL's LOTW that no signal reports are required

I suspect that the ARRL long ago decided that crosschecking signal
reports was totally impractical. They'd need your logs as well as your
cards. They could do that with LOTW, but then they'd be in the position
of having a stricter policy for LOTW than they would for cards.

In the simple case, the KPA500 is fully automatic and will follow the
K3's frequency.
Also, for those who want to control the KPA500 directly over the serial
port with KPA Utility or other programs, the Remoterig boxes have
additional serial ports that they provide for control of other devices

When using the internal PSK32 decoder, always tighten up the passband
selectivity to 150 Hz or less. You only want to hear ONE signal for
