[Elecraft] K3 H Mode Mixer

2011-10-13 Thread Mark Kachel
The price of the H mode mixer is about $193, delivered. I am surprised there have been no comments on the value of swapping out the original mixer board for the H Mode mixer. It appears there is a performance improvement. But is the improvement really a big deal? The K3 is at the top of the

[Elecraft] OT Antenna Launcher

2011-10-13 Thread Bob DeHaney
Strangely enough all plumbing in Europe is still measured in inches, even in Germany. I guess they adopted plumbing from the UK and left it that way. I was very surprised when I went into a German hardware store the first time to buy some pipe fittings. Miscellaneous knowledge that pops up :-)

[Elecraft] [K3] DN command enhancement request

2011-10-13 Thread Al Lorona
I'm about to be guilty of one of my pet peeves: any attempt to make the K3 'act like my old transceiver'. I apologize in advance. Powers that be, I find that a fast one-button QSY of up or down 100 kHz would be very handy. Using the DN command in a macro (or, conversely, UP) the maximum step

Vic, Not exactly the same model, but you might find this interesting. I have one of these and it does make a little noise; I'm planning to bypass it a bit. BTW, the case on this one seems to be at V/2. http://www.thebackshed.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=3219 Leigh/WA5ZNU -- View this message

[Elecraft] fit of K3 top cover

2011-10-13 Thread Dave Packard
I have been slowly assembling K3 #5642. Progress has been uneventful up to the point where I am to install the top cover on the basic 10w version, prior to calibration and testing. The mid-point of the left side of the top cover does not sit down sufficiently. It appears that the chassis

PVC-pipes in Europe are 50 / 63 / 75 / 90 mm. 63mm just fits in European tennis-ball, not too tight. At least in my CSV19 launcher. But ball weight must be doubled by inserting pieces of nails or small coins. smile Benny OH9NB __
