All I can say in my defense is that the 1977 ARRL Handbook put a bar
over AR, AS, KN, and SK. I guess things have changed since that
time.

My KPA500 #274 worked fine with the yellow wire installed, but the voltage was
a bit low (56-year old house) and output on 6M was also a tad low. I wired it
for 220v. Since I use it for meteor scatter on 6m, I really wanted full
output. But when I switched to the red wire, I got a terrible
Well, we have a slight conflict Houston! I found the ARRL Operating

if we want to invite only the named station to transmit, we should send
a left-hand parenthesis symbol - Yes, the same operating manual lists
that too!
Do they charge for storage? ;-)

Hello Eric,
All these have already been covered in the latest manual with new mounting
hardware for the transformer. I did the same as you and the problem solved.

I had a loud fan in my KPA500.
I contacted Gary and he had them send me a new fan and all was well.
Merry Christmas to all of the folks at Elecraft.
Excellent customer service all the way around!

I believe -.--. has always been a left-hand parenthesis.
Since Hams didn't use parenthesis in CW communications, it didn't produce a

I was wondering if anyone out in the K3 world is using a mfj-1025 or 1026 to

Hello everyone,
I was just about ready to assemble the front panel, when I realized the
connector on the 40 pin cable has one position blocked. If one follows the
assembly manual instructions (the red cable to P1...) you cannot plug in the
cable because the blockage is on the wrong side.

Appears John G4ZTR has solved the control issue with K3 Inhibit.
I am using Inhibit on 2m and higher with my K3 and thought I would

I experienced a similar problem with my KPA500 ribbon cable. After an
unsuccessful attempt to remove the plugs, I contacted Elecraft Technical
Support and the correct ribbon cable was shipped to me.

Manuel,
With ribbon cables, that condition can mean that you have the two ends
swapped.
It also can mean that you have a cable with the plug in the wrong hole.

The weekly Elecraft SSB net will meet tomorrow (12/4/11) at 1800Z on 14.3035
MHz +/- QRM. I will not be able to be net control this week, so John, WO1S,
will take over from his southern California QTH. Have a great net. I'll
see you next week.

Some programs have trouble running through a virtual serial port program such
as VSPE or LP Bridge. K3 EZ might be one of them. At one point the K3
utility had that problem. I'm not sure if that is still the case now.

Well after a couple of days of making sure the ALC is 5-7 bars, I still have

I can take several CQ sequences before the power gets to the rated value.
Are there any other ideas?

Any advice appreciated about this strange issue affecting my K2/100? -:
