Gerald,
From your description, I would strongly suggest that you order a
2SC2166 or two from Elecraft.
If you are attempting to operate the KX1 without a heatsink on Q6, DO
NOT DO THAT. Q6 will be zapped in very short order. Use a heat sink on
Q6 at all times.

I just installed the upgrade using a 20” monitor. Wow it’s beautiful. One of

Bill,
The K3 does not (and never has) place any restrictions on tuning of the
60 meter band - you may tune anywhere you desire. That is NOT firmware
dependent.
As an operating convenience, the K3 memories can be set up for channel

I meant a BD139 not BD136 of course, and I had mounted a small heatsink, but

Hi Gary,
I have built only 1 K2, but mine has the same power consumption (240mA)
during RX. So I think your current consumption is OK. You can have some
deviations of your consumption because of LCD backlight mode (day/night),
S-meter mode (bar vs dot), post-mixer amp Q22 biasing so don't worry
My recently completed K2, #7235, worked FB for two weeks. One evening, while
listening around the bands, I stepped over to my balanced feed tuner to
change taps. What I didn't realize was that a healthy static charge had
built up on my vertical linear-loaded dipole. When I reached for a tap I

For reasons of convenience, the resistors are mounted on the antenna side of
the tuner. Since I'm tuning from 3.5 mHz through 15 mHz into a roughly 10.5

thus the large value of resistors.
