Thanks to all who sent me information and suggestions. It has been several
days and I just now got a chance to get to the radio (note 0115L) after a
week or so.
In going through all the suggestions and checking and changing some I found
that my RF gain was cranked down and all of a sudden I

This sounds like the dreaded 12v error although you don't mention seeing
that specific message on the display.
This happened to several I've heard about, including mine (S/N 1153) and,
in my case, was the corroded pin problem. Elecraft sent me a kit (free of

I knew I should have stayed up all night making contacts.
At 10:30 PM EST 20m was open in MI, my problem was that I did not have
any energy it was a long week at work. :-(

What I tried to say was I have a Scorpion antenna and it has gone thru 2

Also I do not have a trailor hitch mount it is above my bumper on the

Hope this helps.

Good morning,
Well I just finished hanging my new G5RV yesterday and I have already had
some impressive results when comparing my long wire to the G5RV. After I

HI Roland,
When I spend some radio time this weekend I send them to you.

One of my friends had a screwdriver antenna mounted on an old motor mount.

Steve,
My K3 has done this several times and each time I had turned the power down
while running Ham Radio Delux and then turned off the program. The fix for me
is to start HRD again and use the slider to raise the power above 12 watts and
all is well again.
I am not sure this is what is

Thanks for the heads up on this, Wayne. Although I didn't see the message

It was side open to VK-land from SoCal a couple hours after Wayne's

Hi all,
We've significantly improved the K3's DSP AGC based on feedback from
DXpedition users. In some cases, dozens of stations with nearly
identical amplitude may be packed together into just a few tens or
hundred of Hz of bandwidth. The AGC threshold can now be set much

Long ago when I got mine I chose to have my cake and eat it too. I built it
