OK Folks, I will confirm the bug. We are working on it now and will have a solution ASAP. My tests show that communications is normal after this point, meaning that the KPA properly communicates the OPER mode to the K3. The work-around is to set the POWER-ON mode to STBY. Our apologies for this

The cable they supply is missing pins 1, 4, 6, 7, and 8 on purpose. The band data however is on pins 3, 9, 13, and 14. If you have continuity on those pins, then I guess the KPA should follow the KAT (which follows the K3). Page 19 of the KPA manual shows the required cable (so you could home br

This sounds like the new firmware fixed a bug. I don't think the amp is supposed to put the rig in "drive power" mode when it is in standby mode, only when it is in operate mode. I certainly wouldn't want the amp to limit the K3's output to 35 watts in standby mode. 73, Scott, N9AA On 12/20/

Then you are a lucky fellow, Ed.  My VFO NR=ON is not nearly so effective and neither can I advance the AF gain to 40 without horrible distortion - my usual audio gain runs around 20 and the artefact is clearly audible at that level. I guess this suggests some considerable variation between units.
