OK, so I installed NaP3 as I said before. Now I got my KX3 hooked up, set the rig control to KX3, connected the I/Q output cable to the Creative Xfi soundcard on my laptop, set the com port to the same as found with the KX3 util (com3 4800 baud) and it worked out of the box I must confess

Tried it Bob: Spike still there. No difference with the previous version. I already had it at -110 dBm so not really an issue but using the I/Q cable supplied remains disastrous, you need the galvanic separation. I could create the overload warning in 2.6 but the software kept running. NaP3

Hi Dick, Thanks, that works a treat. I wonder if it's worth considering a firmware update to make the KX3 better for standalone Morse practice without the terminal program. I think all that's required is either a program or fixed delay before the VFO B display switches from decode to freq.
