Great advice response and vy clear Answer is no the KBPF3 does not help
the ham bands.
So, it is not a band pass filter in the usual sense of an ICE 419 which rejects
sigs outside one ham band (switchable). BIG thanks 73Charles [EMAIL

I have some of the new solder with the non-toxic flux and no lead. I get what
looks like cold joints regardless of the heat applied many tries, same
result. Anyone else get the same? 73Charles [EMAIL PROTECTED] From: [EMAIL

With the NR adjusted and on ... it does not lose weak sigs, it kills hiss and
other band noise, and it makes the CW reader work better.
This K3 is a CW miracle. If u mostly work CW, this is the only rig u will ever
need. 73,Charles [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Pse some K3 adjustment advice to this appliance operator:
1. My K3-100 factory blt # 309 has vy loud brief noise bursts... specifically
the effect if a vfo were transmitting and vy rapidly swished past my rcve freq.
The resulting blast of tone is much louder than the voice I am listening to
I donna know, but I just loaded up 17 feet of unterminated coax with the K3 ATU
and it got a 1.6 to 1 . Mistaken selection of ANT 1 or 2, of course.Charles

Many DX load a set of memory freqs. spread over their announced listening
spread and then punch the memory button after each contact, insuring that the
DX will not hear a second caller on the same freq. 73Charles [EMAIL PROTECTED]

No, Ian, the mess of conflicting plug standards has not always been the case.
There was a time when a 4 pin mic plug had pin one as mic and 2 as ptt and 3 as
gnd. Johnson, Heath, and all the other xmitter makers AGREED.
There was a time ... still somewhat with us... when the 6 pin Molex was
Ron about the time when the famous D-104 was in every shack with a vy
wide and rather flat response... Astatic also sold a10-C (ceramic) and the
10-D (dynamic) elements/mics that were shaped for voice with a peak in the mid
VOICE range. I still have my 10-C and the Astatic paper
not reasonable IMHO). 73, Don W3FPR WS6X wrote:

I got #309, factory built, into service. First contact was VP6DX barefoot.
First impressions (citing problems only):
-AGC does not clamp down on short duration pops/tones/blasts of toned noise.
-Stepping thru all 5 filters is a pain when u just want to compare F1 to F2.
-Front mic
BCI on 3 antennas and at least 4 bands.
could be stray RF, yes. TNX 73Charles [EMAIL PROTECTED] From: [EMAIL

As I predicted, market for the used Pro 3 is already in collapse. Nevada
Radio used $1399.

due to the buzz on both, so maybe eventually I will take my pick and if I
can not hear the difference between the two (likely due to my weak abilities
