On one of my K3's the Powerpole receptacle got flaky. Turn the radio on,
and then wiggle the plug to see if it drops out. I resoldered where
the receptacle pins mate with the circuit board inside, but I still had
to use a tie-wrap to hold the plug in a certain position. I'll fix it

Hi Keith,
Thanks for the reply. I tried a bunch of different width/mode

Dave Hachadorian,
For an upcoming Frequency Measurement Test, I'm trying to use a K3 in
AM Mode RX-only with a 250 Hz CW Filter. My plan for the FMT is to use a
GPS Disciplined Oscillator as a BFO, and by measuring the frequency of
the beat tone, I will be able to accurately determine the mystery

One of my K3's failed during the RTTY Roundup - no RX, no TX. I sent an

series of e-mail exchanges. Doug concluded that the Synthesizer Board
was likely the source of the problem. I had an old KSYN3 Synthesizer

It could be a momentary high SWR when starting a transmission because of
some slow switching somewhere in line. In K3 Config, try increasing the
value of Tx Dly. I have to set mine at 14 because of a slow amp.

Does your K3 have gold pins on the front panel connector? The old
tinned pins were apt to cause a lot of weird/intermittent problems.

You had it fixed, but then you broke it again. After doing the
alternative method on page 49, when you tune in to 10. MHz in CW
mode, you should hear a CW note at the same frequency as your PITCH
selection. I presume that is 400 Hz.

I don't know anything about the KPA-1500, but I have seen similar power

You need a filter on the TX radio to prevent its phase noise from being
heard on other bands. Just pressing PTT on the TX radio, even without
putting out any measurable power, will raise the noise floor on multiple
bands. With suitable band decoders driving filter selection,
