I'm one of those that considers the PowerPole connector on my K3 to be a
PITA.Is there something afoot to replace it? I've considered ways
to replace it but haven't come up with anything that seems reasonable yet.

Punch the DISP button and dial up the power supply voltage via the B

That way you can check to see if you are getting good power. A drop of
a few tenths of a volt on TX is normal.

Currently there is no specific support for external tuners from the K3,
so the method you are using is the only possibility.
I did some research on external auto-tuner protocols for Wayne and my
