[Elecraft] KX1 #01221 Alive but shy of stated power?

2005-08-04 Thread Jeremy Cowgar
Enjoyed putting my KX1 together and tuning around the bands but when it comes to transmitting, I'm wonder if something is slightly wrong or no. Power out: 13.5v: 40m = 3.8w (39ppv), 20m = 3.06 (35ppv) 9v: 40m = 1.32w (23ppv), 20m = 2.25 (30ppv) The 9v 20m output is strange to me. Have checked

[Elecraft] KX1: U9 output = 8v?

2005-08-03 Thread Jeremy Cowgar
U9 should be a 6v regulator, no? 77L06. It's getting 13.8v and outputting 7.96v in the Alignment and Test Part I. The manual states on U3, pin 6 should be 6+/-0.25 v. Because of U9 being 7.96, so is pin 6. Any thoughts? Jeremy ___ Elecraft mailing

Sorry, user error with a bit of panic I don't know how I did it, but I installed C10 (bottom of the board) into C38's position. C10 is a 10uf electrolitic on the output of U9 to ground. That fixed it all, now I just hope I didn't blow up U3. Jeremy KB8LFA Stuart Rohre wrote: Jeremy,

[Elecraft] K1 or KX1? Looking mainly at receiver

2005-08-01 Thread Jeremy Cowgar
I am looking for a backpack rig (3-5 day backpacking trips). I know the KX1 is more portable but I am wondering specifically about the receiver performance between the two. Also in regards to the K2. I know the K2 is a better reciever but I'm coming from one disappointment. I purchased another
