No, I haven't. ...
A friend changed my settings to display Morse to text and in trying to shut
off that feature I sort of have CWT blinking and a lot of stuff I don't
understand.
Thank you,

Removed the recently installed old defective devices and soldered in the
new ones and bolted the case together and in my haste to see if they
worked forgot to tighten the heat sink 4/40 nuts and touched the key and
heard a high pitched squeek as the $19 (plus $8.95 postage ) matched
devices bit
Other problems discovered along the way with this partially
assembled kit.
Hi Don,
Thank you so much for sticking with me on this.
K2 #2438 Ver. A with no updates.
I had measured 1.48V at bases of Q7 and Q8. (installed.)
And as you suggested I removed the PA transistors
and now measure 0.63

Hi Don, the K2 is #2438
And has been sitting around half built for 18 years or so:-0
The manual for Rev. A calls for 16 turns
I finished building a basic kit with no options and the power output will
not rise above 2 watts and current (2A) is too high for that power.
Hi Cur flashes briefly before power output settles at 2 watts.
Voltage checks found the PA base bias circuit putting out
1.4 VDC but 0.8 V is expected.
Am in final testing of a K2 Ver.A kit and transmit output
will not go above 2 watts on an external power meter
and 50 ohm load when keyed or pressing Tune.
"Hi Cur" flashes briefly and power is limited to 2 watts
DisplayE = 11.9 and I = 2.0 Keyed (Un-keyed I=0.22) .
Any idea where to

I am building an older QRP K2 kit ser. # 2438 Ver. A in
the Alignment and test section Part 11. pg. 57, the
PLL Ref. Oscillator Range Test is out of limits.
The Reference High and Low frequencies are OK with
readings (12100.53 high and 12089.43 low) with range
limits of 11.5 - 25 KHz but
Bought at a Ham Flea Market about 1/3 built and needing
all upgrades and some missing parts. Am surprised that
parts are still available from Elecraft, or rather hope that
they are. It came with 2 right side panels and no left side.
And if all goes well and it eventually works will be looking

Anyone able to tell me how to do it ?
Thanks,

Is there normally high noise on 160m with a K2 ?
Comparing the K2 to an old Ten Tec Delta the
k2 signals seem to be lower and noise higher.
A sharp sizzling frying pan noise was pronounced
on the K2 and uncomfortable to listen to but barely
there on the Delta.

My K1 was a wonderful radio on all bands 40 - 17m.
However 17m saw very little use and 15m was desired..
The 26.050 crystal was replaced with the kit supplied 29.000 MHz
crystal for 15m and the K1 realigned on all bands.
All seemed to go well with the receive and transmit alignment

I built my K1 with the 17m option and now find I want 15m
for QRP contests.
I don't think it is a good idea to remove components and
rebuild for 15m but may do it if I have to.
I have the 80 / 160m board and love it. In fact it's 160m
that got me hooked on QRP contesting.
