Do you mean metal conduit vs metal coax?? I don't know what you could mean
by "metal coax". There is no technical problem running through conduit
(although I don't know if there is a building code restriction).

I am testing my KAT100, which had been sitting idle for a number of
years. It is connected to the K2/100 via the DB9 cable as described
in the KAT100 manual. The two are interconnected with a coax cable
and Ant1 is connected to a dummy load.
1. Apply power to KAT100.
2. Turn on K2/100.
3.
and I are definitely static-challenged -- I have had a
similar problem at least twice in the KAT100 despite my best efforts
to remember to disconnect the antenna after operating.

I can't believe that no one has replied to your question yet. The

Help:
I had originally posted a question about this problem back in 2006 and I
am re-posting it because the problem persists, and I'm wondering if
there might be an updated suggested fix.
The issue is that my K2/100 #2462 is frequently unusable on 40m at high
power. When going into TUNE, it often
The problem was with bypass cap C75 in the T-R switch. It had a
resistance of about 1.5 ohms across it. Replacing it solved the
problem. Thanks for the tips.

I have to agree with the need for the radio to be smarter about changing it's
tuning rate automatically. This is a software change that would be helpful to
most of us and is great on the Icoms.
I really like the way some radios speed up the
tuning rate as you turn the dial faster. I think this
effect?
Just wondering the general concept here.

Jonathan,
If it was working before, it may be that the wattmeter bridge diodes in
the KAT100 were zapped with a lightning surge.
I suggest the first step
used with an
antenna that is open from a DC perspective, such as a dipole. Is this
good advice?

I have a K2/100 with a KAT100. For the most part, all works well as

Intermittently, though, when I press the TUNE button, the KAT100 will

I had the same problem. Go into the box and bend the speaker/headphone jack
