An interesting discussion, but I notice no one has abandoned a Ten-
Tec Omni II for a K2.
Do you folks think that the Omni II is worth the great difference in
price based on performance?
Certainly factors like unit size and bulk, pride of building, and the
fact hat the K2 is not software
Sorry folks - I meant the ORION (not Omni) II

Hello All-
Pardon my ignorance, but I've been using HRD with my other radios.
I'm aware that the K2/100 is supported, but don't see how or where
the cable would plug in to the radio.
The cable I'm using for my Icoms has serial on the computer end and a
1/8 mono plug on the radio end.
What
Bekir - My message about using HRD with my K2/100 is just before
yours on the reflector. I too am a Mac-only user.
I happened to have a laptop PC around which I never used, but finally
dug it out and downloaded HRD. It works wonderfully, but that's not
the purpose of this eMail.

Hello All-
Just doing my page 43 voltage tests on the KPA100. The D13 cathode reads
179 instead of 90 to 150 and U4 pin 8 reads -28 instead of -5 to -25.
Anything to worry about?
TP1 has a symbol and pad on the PC board. It also has no part that I
can find, nor is it listed

Greetings all,
Well my moment of truth has come - and gone - on #5229.
Plenty of power from my power source. Plenty of power coming in on
J3. But
none when I hook up to P3 on the K2, because no power on the pads of
J4.
K2 works fine on it's own DC input and I don't think it's the P3
Hello All-
I've been trying to insert the right-angle PCB pins into the red/
black housings.
Unless the drawings are wrong, it looks like the pins protrude from
the top of the
assembly. I find this impossible to achieve because of a bent-up
catch on the top
of the pins which prevent them
Hello All-
Just installing the KBT2 battery. The first time I tried the battery
arced and became too
hot to touch for about half an hour.
Just tried again and there was no arc, but the battery started to get
warm so I pulled it
out of the bracket. The battery is not connected in any way,
Merry Xmas!
I wonder if I'm the only one in the country thinking about this stuff
on Xmas Eve.
Anyway, I'd like very specific instructions about connecting it to my
K2.
For instance what kind of plug (for each wire) and how soldered to
the plug.
Just to take my best guess I've
Hi again.
Unfortunately I broke my Frequency Probe Assy while making it
(couldn't get the glass capacitor to solder to
the probe tip). Now even though I have a good DMM, it doesn't do
everything the probe would, nor as
conveniently.
Any suggestions, aside from reordering all the parts from
(God rest ye merry) Gentlemen-
I want to wire an excess Yeasu MH-31 mic to my rapidly getting
finished K2.
I have the pin-outs for P1 from the KSB2 manual and have the correct

Before I clip off the MH-31 connector looking from the bottom I can

Hello All-
Once again I'd like to tap this deep font of knowledge.
I've just completed the first alignment and test and everything
checks out except setting the AGC threshold.
When I put the probe of my DMM on pin 5 of U2 (a hellish place to get
consistent readings) and adjust R1
Hello All and Merry Xmas
Can't figure out where I went wrong here. Attached two 2-D fasteners
to one bare area and one
unbare area as per locations pictured on page 38. Yet when I went
to attach the sides to the RF
board, the only holes that fit are the bare ones, one of which I've
Hello All,
I've just finished building my KX1 and find I've got two thumbscrews,
part E700050, left over.
Have I missed something?
TIA

Hello All
I'm on Page 28 of the manual. D1 lights and the LED is OK. However
when I start to do voltage checks, I get results that are nothing
close to the manual. Now granted, I'm using a Radio Shack DMM (!)
which is flaky and inconsistent, but when I get good contacts it
shows that
