Ian,
It is likely as you suspect, but opening the path to the microphone jack
On completing the resistance tests for the Front Panel Board on page 29 of the
manual (revision I 29 March 2012) I get about 29k on J1 pin5 and not 1M.
I think this is because I've got the KSB2 option and following instructions on
page 29 on the K2 manual, leading me to pages 16/17 of the KSB2
Ian,
It is likely as you suspect, but opening the path to the microphone jack
is easy.
Remove the jumper from the AF signal on the microphone configuration
header and re-check just to be certain.

On completing the resistance tests
I've reached the stage in K2 construction for the first resistance checks
on the RF Board. Everything comes into spec except the 8b signal on U6 pin
8 measures 38.4 ohms to ground and the spec calls for 100 ohms. Any ideas
where to look?

Tom,
You're not the first to encounter this particular anomaly. Don, W3FPR had
these suggestions for another builder, the link to which I've included
below.

Tom,
You will have to begin lifting resistors and inductors if you cannot
find a solder bridge by inspection. If you end up doing that, do it in
an orderly fashion and keep notes as you work - in the heat of
troubleshooting often the thought comes up which says did I try that
already? -
