I agree with you Bill about the noise-- and my hearing drops off lots at
the higher frequencies.
I can't imagine listening to it very long with good hearing.
I have a Timewave DSP-599ZX audio DSP filter here. The high and low
cuts are independently adjustable.
It has a range from 100Hz to 5K

the equaliser with the in-built monitor facility in the K3. I was
considering one of the more expensive microphones and tried a few that I
use for non ham radio purposes, but couldn't find one that sounded as
