I agree with you Bill about the noise-- and my hearing drops off lots at the higher frequencies. I can't imagine listening to it very long with good hearing. I have a Timewave DSP-599ZX audio DSP filter here. The high and low cuts are independently adjustable. It has a range from 100Hz to 5K
