Using my K3 and other Radios thru my KAT500 at powers under 100 watts, I have
the following problem:
While transmitting at swr's under 1.5, the Tuner will go haywire try to
retune go into the tune mode..
Lots of relay clattering….. I have to stop transmitting go into normal tune
mode
I have the same problem with my KAT500, mainly on 160m.
My problem is my antennas sit on a 26'x150' apartment building roof and
are to close together. I have done all the Choke/Balun fixes I could.
The fix for me is to get the antennas tuned using AUTO,
then when I operate I switch to MAN. It
Sound like you are having a bad case of Common Mode Current
Are you using a Balun???

I'm having similar issues but swapping the 1:1 common mode choke (balun) for a
4:1 will fix it for me.
