Mike,
Your Keyout cabling should be from the K3 Keyout to the top KAT500 PTT
RLY, and then from the bottom KAT500 PTT RLY to the KPA500. That allows
the KAT500 to disable keying of the KPA500 during a TUNE operation.

This is the right place to ask questions like this, since this is where we are
listening. It is one of the major reasons the lists exists.
I see from your second email that the asterisk is not being shown when the K3

Hi Mike,
When you transmit from the K3 what do you see on the left side of the KPA500
display. Obviously it's not an asterisk. Are you seeing an Underscore.
You may have accidentally programmed INHIB IN to ENABLE? See page 20 of the
KPA500 manual. You will want it to be in DISABLE.

Hi:
I hope nobody gets offended as I have also posted a message on the

The fuses were the 12A ones (I still have the 6A ones in their unopened

Wow Mike, that's really bad luck and very frustrating.
I've been about to order a KPA500 to go with my K3, but after your story, I
might hang back a while. Bad news about having to ship your amp back, but not
as expensive has having to ship it back to the US from down here. I wouldn't

Mike,
This is an very unusual experience, and I'd like to apologize on
behalf of my staff. (It's hard to imagine we would have left the fuses

All new products go through a get-the-kinks-out period. I'm sorry you

Mike,
Sorry for your bad experience. But, aren't you glad that you are dealing with
Elecraft who will do a good job of responding to your problems. Just think if
you had bought a THP or Ameritron Amp and had to deal with problems.
Hope to hear about the ultimate problem and fix.

It is out of great frustration that I write this. What's up with Elecraft
and the KPA500? I was so excited when KPA500 arrived May 11th. It was a
culmination of six months of waiting and saving and finally it was here!
Having previously built my K3, P3 and W2, this time I chose to get it
