finally traced the problem to the fact that both were using the same power
supply (cured most of it) and to much transmit power - used a dummy load for
both the K2 and the 706 with the K2 at about 1 watt. As my XYL is a ham I

It sounds like the K2 may be too close to the power supply. Try putting
the PS 1-2 feet from the K2 and see if that takes care of the problem.
