Can I use the key line interrupter (KPAK3AUX) between the K3 and the
ultrabeam controller? I´m looking for a way to protect the beam( keying
while elements are moving) without buying a microham device(rather
expensive), or is there another way I could go?

Take a look at the Portable Dipole in the Articles section of my website
at www.ad5x.com. It is the size of a 20-meter dipole, but can provide
resonant 40-10 meter operation. Very compact, cheap, and works well. It
has been my portable antenna-of-choice for several years now.
I also show

The current offerings are of questionable quality and performance but many
operators own these types of radios for mobile and or backup shack
transceivers etc.
Thank you Mike.
I would get the four band module if it had 10m (I might still). I have a PAR
end-fed dipole for 40/20/10, so it would be great to use the same antenna for
three bands. I have seen that 10m can be done on the K1. I guess that with a
wire and ATU I could cover four bands...

Gil,
You cannot do both 20 meters and 10 meters on the 4 band board. The Low
pass filter for the 2 higher frequency bands is shared, so if the LPF
were to pass 10 meters, the 2nd harmonic of 20 meters would not be
suppressed.
If you use the 2 band board, the Low Pass Filter is dedicated to a

Actually I think the KX3 is an ideal candidate for HF-70cm as a
mobile. The KXPA-100 will handle HF-6m as a trunk-mount and the

The build went well, only difficulty was my old fingers and working with #2

The 'block' is usually rubber plug and can be removed. Use a pointy thingy to

Hi Chris,
To add to Joe's answer, if the Ultrabeam controller does not an interrupt
