Don,
I've observed that the rate of new posts has gone down (no scientific
estimate, just a gut sense based on daily checks of the forum). I have no
speculation as to why.

We've done that a LOT (at least 6 years) with two KPA500s on Honday

Was that the Hutch Mountain conversion Jim?

Good Evening,
I awoke to an inch of snow with more falling. That lasted until
mid-afternoon. Then it started to hail followed by sleet and finally
pellets of snow. Lastly it started raining so the snow is gone. Good
day to watch the volcano in Iceland. At least one of their web cams

Yes. And Glen said they were great to deal with, including answering
questions. Thanks for prodding my aging memory cells.

Same here. I am about 75% through a K2 build and faced the same question.
In my case the pins didn't quite make it to being flush with the bottom side
of the board. Rather than pressing on the LCD and taking the risk of
overstressing it, I flowed the solder from the bottom side and then
Thanks for sharing!! I have been thinking about adding that to my 2000i.

Bruce, I am having the same issue. The LEDs are flush to the board, the
plastic overlay installed but then the LCD sits to high to get the pins
through

I resoldered the LED backlight devices by applying a small amount of
pressure and resoldering each pin to make sure they were flush. This made
the pins of the LCD flush with the PCB holes. I soldered it this way and it
has worked. The LCD is working fine for my K2.

Dear Ham's
For my K3s I like to buy a EXTREF board. It is a retired product according
to the Eleccraft store.
Is there someone who like to sell this board?
Or is there an other solution.

Could it be that many of the posts that would have been on this reflector are
now being posted on a couple of K4 lists that I understand exist?

Good morning all.
Quick question.
I recently bought a nice K3 ser # 89xx ,and it came with 2 N connectors on
the back instead of the usual UHF SO-239.
The seller said it came from the factory that way.
Is this common ?
I have never seen this before.
Thank you,
Larry k6ro
Larry,
One local ham had me change the UHF SO239 connectors to N connectors
because he does not trust the UHF connectors.
I know he recently sold it, maybe it is the same one.
It is easy to change them back to UHF type, but it definitely did not
come from the factory that way.

Not to start a flame war about N vs UHF connectors, I prefer N and
built my KPA500 and Hardrock 50 amps with them. My KX3 remains BNC,
and any cable I have that is disconnected often is a BNC, sometimes
with a BNC male to N female adapter, which are really common. No one
but Hams still use
Thanks guys for all the great info..appreciate it,

My K3 Has all BNC connectors on the back. My preference as it travels some
for Field Day, special events, etc. Makes it quicker and easier to set up
and take down.
