I really don't know what the big deal is about Signalink. I have a non-USB K3 and have used it for FT8 as well as SSB contesting with just the internal sound card of my computer for over 15 years. I have also used inexpensive ($10) external USB sound cards when the internal sound card doesn't

My advice would be to forget W altogether. They may think they’re agents for Elecraft, but they have little or no stock of anything new. They don’t even advertise the K4 any more and unless they suddenly found a competent engineer and bought suitable test equipment, they cannot honour warranty
